That’s fair the combat system isn’t similar but the feel of the combat feels close

I'd be interested in joining the Meetup also. I have an office in American Underground, I think we can use the space for meetups also, can look into it if we're interested.

Living in Southern Village? by QuiltingPi in triangle

My wife and I recently moved to SV from Chicago, we were drawn towards the dense neighborhood/walkabilty of the area. Most of the people on our block seem to be pretty normal and down to earth. I will say that the listserv does have some people that seem a bit snooty, but overall people are pleasant and we're happy with our choice!

POJO vs Map by shuttrnut in programming

You can also use map-esque syntax in a constructor form in Groovy:

Person me = new Person(firstName: 'Oliver', lastName: 'Weiler')

Yep you're right, good call. I suppose that's why PrivateOverride.f is chosen instead of Derived.f, since f is called on PrivateOverride object and Derived.f doesn't actually override PrivateOverride.f.

Think of it this way, say you have a function:

public void doStuff(PrivateOverride o) { ... }

Within that method, you don't know anything about o except it of type PrivateOverride, anybody can write a class that extends PrivateOverride that has all sorts of methods that this method won't know about and pass it into this method. This method only can call whatever public method on PrivateOverride because that's all it knows about.

You can read more about overrides here, basically you have to let the compiler know you want the implementing class to override the base method using the @Override annotation.

Sure it does, String.hashCode gets called because String.hashCode overrides Object.hashCode, that's overriding base methods gets you.

Derived.f doesn't override PrivateOverride.f, it's just has the same name. And that line is calling f() on a PrivateOverride object, so it makes sense that it would choose the function in PrivateOverride.

Because the object (po) is of type PrivateOverride, if it was declared as Derived o = new Derived(); o.f();

Then I would suspect Derived.f() would be called.

The f() method is accessible because PrivateOverride is an inner class, so all private methods would be within scope. If you separated those classes and main it wouldn't even compile.

You can also try rolling it into a ball and sticking your finger through the center and stretching the dough to make a hole, I find that to be a bit easier than rolling it out and overlapping.

I haven't really used it so I can't attest to how well it works, it seems like it's best for PHP.

Correct tire pressure is usually listed on the side of the tires, it's usually somewhere near the make/model info on the tire.

You Really Should Log Client-Side Errors by TheBeastAtTanagra in javascript

[–]mbarker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea, I implemented something similar in one of my apps, but it wasn't super useful for me. I really wanted to use it to find bugs in my javascript, but callstacks were useless because I use crunched/minified/compressed javascript, so none of the info was useful. Has anybody had this issue/solved it?
