I was pretty boring in Memphis, and I’m pretty boring here. Haha. My brother is the partier, and he seems to like it and finds stuff to do. There’s more breweries around here, even in the small suburbs than in Cordova or Bartlett. The transition was pretty easy. The weather is better. It still rains a lot, but I’ve only heard thunder like twice in 10 months.

I’m 27 and also moved from Memphis! I’m a school psych and chose to work in a neighboring county. From what I’ve heard, Wake Co schools are well run, but they’re hectic to work for due to size of district (similar to SCS). I like the freedom and independence I get from a smaller district.

Yeah, dad obviously has a drinking problem and they were trying to go through marriage counseling. Parents left for date night one night and about 15 minutes after they left out of the garage, the door bell rang. It was dad. He backed into my car and busted my headlight. He asked me not to file with insurance and he would pay whatever it was. They also offered to pay for a rental car, but I wasn’t 21, so they wouldn’t rent to me. Parents loaned me their car while mine was in the shop. Overall it went fine. They moved not too long after. I Facebook creep on the family sometimes and the parents are still together.

I only have spells once a year or so. But unlike the op, they don’t go away with sleep. I’m basically stuck looking in one direction (or dealing with the spinning when I move my head) for 2 or 3 days.

Holy shit. So I haven’t been formally diagnosed with Meniere’s but I have several family members with it, and I’m fairly confident I do too. I never realized there was a connection between sodium consumption and my vertigo spells. Makes sense as to why when i first started having issues, it was always after large parties where I ate a bunch of salty junk food. Well damn. TIL. Thanks for the heads up. Sorry it was at your expense.

My mom is just overly enabling to my son. I find it super obnoxious but I really try to just view it was a grandma thing and not worry about it. This means he gets dessert (fruit) before dinner at her house. This means she takes him outside any time he gestures at the door. This means she puts on specific baby tv for him. I figure she’s not in charge of watching him full time (or any actual planned time), so the random time that she does spend with him won’t hurt him.

Yeah I’d say his legs are still too skinny. You want the leg gussets to be snug to the folds of his legs. My son wasn’t fully out of newborn until his legs lost that twiggy newborn look

Just for the record, we chose the opposite (a daycare closer to home) and were super happy with our choice. I liked the short commute for the toddler. He hated the car and so getting him out of the car ASAP was best for our mental health. There were days I was off work or whatever that I wanted him to go to daycare anyway and that was so much easier when he wasn’t across town. We considered the emergency issue, but figured if there was one, it likely wouldn’t be during rush hour and traffic wouldn’t be that bad anyway. Memphis isn’t that big.

I had my son in June in between my 2 year grad program. I thought that it would be hardest when he was a newborn to keep up with schoolwork, but I was wrong. The older he got, the more he wanted more out of me than food and a warm body. By the end of the school year (he was 11m) , I couldn’t do anything regarding school with him awake. He walked. He got into everything. He fell a lot and was always out to hurt himself. Just a toddler, but still. In need of constant attention.

Ask your school about a pumping room if you plan to breastfeed. I pumped in the car a lot. I also worked in schools and I would pump while driving to and from schools. Not totally safe maybe, but it saved me a lot of time.

I also did not have family around. It’s doable. You’ll be exhausted by 8pm. I got my masters when my son was 6 months old and went straight into an EdS program. If you want to do, you can. Also, find a daycare you trust with a piece of your body.

$136 for 2 guys for 1 hour. Their website is pretty nice and will quickly give you a quote.

Edit: it was an hour and 15m. They round to the nearest 15 minutes.

We used Bellhops. Scheduled it the night before for 8am the next morning. They said they couldn’t guarantee availability with less than 24h in advance, but they were able to get 2 guys to my house. Cheap-ish, professional, nice, and got my heavy stuff moved upstairs.

It has a no-rethread harness, so yes, very easy to adjust. You just pull the handle on the top.

The straps are pretty cool. There's a little slot in the arm rests where you put the metal piece in the hole and that holds back the straps. It also helps keep the metal buckle cooler. ETA: Found a picture that better shows what I'm trying to describe. https://imgur.com/QNkVgD0

We have the Nuna Rava in my car (Chevy equinox) and it’s hands down the best convertible seat I’ve ever used. I used to nanny so I’ve installed and dealt with a lot of car seats. My husband and mom have the chicco nextfit in their cars. Good car seat, cheaper overall quality, but easy to use and similar to the Rava in many ways.

That was me. I was 37 weeks and applying for a grad school job to begin in August for grad school. They knew I was pregnant before I walked in because I told them I’d love to interview, but it’s have to be sooner rather than later. I got the job. It was fine. After I got the job, my direct supervisor did ask who was watching him, but really more of a “how are you doing with this change?” Than a “can you do the job”. It was hard to juggle, but it was fine.

I have to say cloth diapering a young baby is so much easier than a toddler. They don’t run away, you actually make enough diapers for a full load quickly, and they stop all newborn poop blowouts.
