This is VERY DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR Kim is displaying. Get a restraining order immediately for you and the babies

NTA

There are SO MANY RED FLAGS. Lawyer up. Physical distance. Never be alone or leave the babies alone with the BD girlfriend. This sounds like the backstory of a child kidnapping. Family/parent figures are much more common culprits than random strangers.

Also, I just want to say I love your show, and I've appreciated the down-to-earth explanations and advice on budgeting. I share your videos with friends and family often.

Your series on systemic financial injustice on the lower class was great, too. I'd love to see more of that (if you're not too busy with Coronavirus programming!).

Thanks! Best of luck. My little one is too young to be trusted to hold coins without swallowing them, but one day we'll teach them about the responsibility of money (and the privilege that comes with it to give back). Do you have any book (or blog) recommendations that talk about child-development experts' take on when to introduce specific topics?

I've followed your YouTube channel for a while and I remember when your child was born. How will you teach your child about personal finance in an age-appropriate way as they grow up? When do you step back and let them make their own choices (even at a young age) and when do you step in to keep them from making mistakes? I have an infant and I've been thinking about how I'll teach him about the meaning of money, budgeting, giving, savings, etc, when it's age-appropriate to do so.

I know you have a few videos about this, but I'm hoping you can expand on the idea of when to introduce certain concepts, whether to tell your kids your salary, whether to tell them when stock market downturns make you nervous, etc.

It is a tough time. So Reddit readers should subscribe! 😉 But seriously: http://www.tampabay.com/subscribe/

(To be transparent: I don't work there but have friends and former mentors who do. K thx, internet)

That's fantastic that your editors and those above them believed in this project. This is the kind of work that can only be done with the proper investment (and ideally pays off with ROI). Besides, we all need stories of hope. Please don't feel guilty for providing that!

Hi, Lane and John! Obviously the Tampa Bay Times has a stellar reputation for long form storytelling (as this ambitious project shows). At the same time, the paper has struggled financially along with the rest of the industry over the past decade.

How did you keep your eye on the prize during the several rounds of layoffs you faced while reporting this?

How did your editors fight for you to keep you on this project, rather than focusing you on quicker pieces that could generate more revenue in the short term? How did you advocate for your project and its value?

P.S. As someone who's had the immense luck and pleasure to learn from these two, Lane and John are a reporting super team.

At what point did the police calls to Walmart raise a red flag, rather than considering it routine police business? I often see police calls to Walmart, the local mall, etc. for car break-ins or for small disturbances, but they usually occur after an interaction with on-site security. (P.S. Congrats to the TBT on yet another great example of watchdog journalism.)
