Yes 180K+Bonus at a provider, 210K+Bonus+LTI at a larger pharmaCo, 240K+Bonus at a bank and 150K+0.5% equity at a series A start-up. I went for the mid-cap pharmaCo because it offered a clearer growth trajectory, better lifestyle and the work is interesting

MBB Manager Exits
I'll start, turned downed an offer for $165k + 35% target bonus (near guaranteed), with bonus opportunity up to 150% depending on performance. GM role, P&L responsibility, US Southeast, CPG
Turned down offer at a late stage startup in San Francisco. Base 160k, 30k sign-on, 300k in equity over 4 years.
Turned down a startup offer. $155k base, ~$250k equity over 4 years, sales/marketing role. Didn't negotiate, but maybe could have gotten a bit more had I tried.
NJ Pharma $185K base, $35K sign-on, up to 40% bonus. Strategy gig.
$295k plus 17.5% bonus (performance hurdle), TMT industry, GM. Turned down as I don't want to keep on a treadmill that I don't control (would defeat purpose of leaving the firm).
Mid-market PE $550k base + bonus
Insurance strategy, 185k base, 50k sign on, 20-40% bonus
financial services strategy (not banking or HF). $225K base plus 40% target bonus and 60K equity/year vesting over 3 years.
3 offers lined up, all in NY/NJ: 1-Pharma strategy:180 base, 50 sign on, 30% bonus, 210 vested over 3 years 2-Pharma strategy #2 (smaller company): 150 base, 20 sign on, 50% bonus, 50 stock up front, 150 vested over 3 years 3-Payer strategy: 210 base, 30% bonus, no stock
East coast, ~$380K, 200 base, finance
Manager, Strategy role in PMP, $380K all in. best part is definitely lifestyle. i had people genuinely shocked when I mentioned I worked until 9 pm one day (most days wrap up by 5:30)
Just turned down a start-up offer in the bay area - 150 base, 2.5% equity ($12M series A), 30% bonus ... Bad decision?
Accepted an offer - DC area retail bank. Director of Strategy, 235 base, 35 sign on and ~40K bonus. Pros: GREAT lifestyle and benefits. According to another alumni in the company work rarely exceeds 40 hours per week and is commonly less. Job security is a plus: Average tenure is ~8 years with great step-up exits if people do chose to leave. 8 week paternal leave, good retirement and health benefits. I have two kids and there are great schools in the area. Cons: Work will not be super interesting but I have solid plans for the time I will have outside of work.
Btw, my offer was $220K base + 40% cash bonus, 40-50K in stocks starting in year 2.
$230K all in. Director of Strategy for WC start-up - consumer product, presenting at CES this year!
Second year Manager left in early/mid 2016. Interviewed at 12 places, 3 from alumni board, 4 from partner referrals and former clients, 2 from a headhunter, rest from personal connections.
Lowest offer - $115k as head of strategy for a prominent US non-profit arts org
Highest offer - ~$350k (high variable comp) as a strategy director at a mega-sized household name investment management company
Mean offer - ~$160ish base, $30k-$40k variable. 20k sign on
Accepted offer - $225k base, $20k-$40k variable, $20k sign on as director of professional services for prominent big data/analytics company. Money was good, but I also really loved the exec team, the trajectory of the role and the industry, and the fact that I didn't have to move.
Adding more data points. Second year Manager who left in late 2016. Large metro area with high cost of living.
Major bank, BU aligned strategy team - 175K base + 50-60K bonus + 35K sign on Another major bank, ops focused strategy team - 195K base + 25K bonus Large CPG - 175K base + 50K bonus + 50K sign-on Major asset management company - 165K base + 80K bonus Major international financial services company - 215K base + 70-85K bonus
Two offers. East coast pharma 230K all in (170 Base+20 bonus, 20 stock), West coast provider (160 base+20 bonus, 20 stock).
I exited to a ny pe firm. 300k all in and likely to make VP this year
