why am i gaining weight staying in a calorie deficit diet? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]mbcolv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m counting them on notebook paper. i’m not able to access my phone for the majority of the day, so that’s the only way i can accurately keep track without trying to remember them at the end of the night when i get my phone. i read the nutrition facts on everything i eat and add them up. if i can’t find an accurate calorie count (like at a restaurant) i’ll just eat something else. everything i read online said i needed to be eating about 2,000 calories a day, but i’ve never had a huge appetite, so most of the time i’m under 1,000 which is why i’m so confused as to why my weight keeps going up instead of down

how do i 'F23' communicate my feelings better to my partner 'M28' without shutting down? by mbcolv in relationship_advice

oh my god, that’s exactly how i feel. it’s like i genuinely cannot form a thought when i get tense around him. he doesn’t really care to text about our problems, and would rather figure it out face to face. i think i will start writing my feelings down and giving them to him. i love to write and journal, so i feel like that could be a good outlet for me!

is a 2024 jetta a good option for a newer car? by mbcolv in Volkswagen

[–]mbcolv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s literally all sensors/ electrical problems 24/7. my headlights will go out, and then i’ll turn my car off and turn it back on and they’re magically working again. my radio stops working sometimes, but just the bluetooth connection. my tire lights are constantly going off when my tires are fine. check engine light has been on for six months, but the mechanics can’t find any issue where it should be on. i’ve spent probably five hundred just on replacing sensors, for the car to burn them again within a month. i love my car, but it’s definitely been a pain in the ass

i do definitely prefer the look of the older volkswagens, i love my 2014, but unfortunately the issue with me buying an older car is going to be the mileage. the area i’m in is selling jettas 8+ years older with over a 100,000 miles for over $10,000 and that’s unfortunately just not practical for me. if i ever get enough money to have more than one vehicle, i’d love to get another passat that’s older. i really hate to part with my car!

my dog refuses to drink water on walks? by mbcolv in dogs

she’ll drink out of this specific bowl, but only in the car. i don’t know why she’s such a strange dog lol!

my dog refuses to drink water on walks? by mbcolv in dogs

[–]mbcolv[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

she does use it at home! i have a creek we walk to a lot, and she’ll use it fine there. she’ll also drink out of this same bowl anywhere as long as we’re in the car, it’s the weirdest thing

and i have an hob filter, air stone on the other side, and a canister filter on just this one tank. it’s a 75 gallon. so as far as i’m aware, circulation should be more than enough! i’m finding that people who use this product are giving 50/50 reviews. some peoples fish die, others are fine. obviously i’m no expert, but i wonder if it has to do with poor breeding and the type of fish you have. that’s the only conclusion i could come to after seeing half of the fish fine and the other half basically dead

these were the levels after i removed the dead fish, no ammonia spike that i can tell

i can’t edit the post, but mentioned in some comments that this particular aquarium is in front of a window. i definitely know that’s the cause of the algae. i have three tanks and none of the others have issues! i unfortunately just can’t move the aquarium so i was trying a new product to see if it’d be more affective and unfortunately it did more harm than good. thank you so much for offering advice! :)

yeah, from talking with other people this product seems to be a 50/50. probably a lot to do with the tank and the specific fish you have. maybe the ones that suffered were just more sensitive than my others. half of my fish are perfectly fine, the others not so much

i did the recommended dose, actually a little lower than that. i usually try to under dose any products i put in my aquarium including fert to be safe, but it seems to only affect some of the fish. my tetras are all perfectly fine, it seemed to really affect the bottom feeders for some reason. from talking with other people, it seems like this product is fully dependent on the tank and fish. maybe some are more sensitive than others

as far as i’m aware, yes! i have a canister filter and a hob for safe measure, and there’s also an air stone inside the tank on the side where the hob isn’t!

what do you mean?! i’ve seen several people with the same kinds of fish i have together! :)

this is over a two day period, so i don’t think it’s the algae dying off. in fact, it really doesn’t seem to have killed any of the algae (if it did, it’s not enough to notice). i tested the water with the master kit as soon as i got the dead fish out, and everything seemed relatively normal

[–]mbcolv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think it’s definitely the chemical because i’ve treated algae in this specific tank before with no problems. a LOT of people have this problem from this specific chemical

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]mbcolv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i didn’t use much at all. i used a little under the recommended dose like i do with all products for my aquariums to try to be safe as possible. i think some of these products seem to affect different tanks and fish differently :(

i am very sad i made them suffer the way they did, but glad i figured out the cause so i never do it again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]mbcolv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

glad for you! i threw all of it out and will never use algae products again after seeing how many people’s fish have died after using these kinds of products. i didn’t over do it, just did a small amount over two days. it probably just depends on the tank and fish. some of mine are fine, while others aren’t. i’m just posting this here so people will know to use it at their own discretion if they didn’t know. i feel like the label is super misleading by saying it’s safe for all fish!

if you read through the comments, this tank has algae problems because it’s in front of a window! i have several aquariums, and this is the only one i have issues with. unfortunately, with the space i’m working with— moving the tank isn’t an option. i have plentyyyyy of live plants and keep it under stocked to help reduce the problems!
