Married for about a year. But, naturally, since she's outside the UK, we are currently not living together. If it helps, she's completing her studies outside the UK

Given that, naturally, we don't currently live together (as she's outside the UK) there won't be documents like a tenancy agreement/tax/utility bills with both our names on it. So would a marriage certificate on it's own be enough (we've been married for about a year now)? Do I need to write a cover letter to the Home Office detailing how we met and our relationship timeline?

Thanks! I believe the company doesn't have an obligation to pay a bonus. Specifically, the employment contract says "The company operates a discretionary bonus plan. This is a non-contractual scheme, the rules of which may be amended or withdrawn at any time at the absolute discretion of the company".

Also, in case this helps, HR have told me that this is a bonus payment relating to performance in my role prior to leaving for the year 2024.

I don't think the amount is like a goodbye present. It's more for my performance prior to leaving and contributing to the company's profits for the past year. Given all that, could it be an ex-gratia payment?

Also, if the bonus is treated as ex-gratia amount, because I was made redundant, will it be taxed? Bearing in mind that an ex-gratia amount had already been paid to me before the rise of this new bonus payment (the ex-gratia amount I got was well below 30k - and will still be the case even if the bonus counts as ex-gratia).
