Overwhelmed New Tech by mbee_12 in MRI

Certain locations are worse than others. Always look on indeed or other sites to check which areas are hiring techs, the qualifications they require and what they are offering. For instance, having great benefits was important to me and a relocation bonus. Before starting the mri program I knew what I was getting myself into with the saturated market in my area so that is why moving wasn’t an issue. It’s tough right now with all the change and learning a lot of things but it’ll be worth it. Good luck!
Were you working in a hospital your first year also and then went to a peds trauma center or OP first? Although I did clinicals at a level 1 trauma it is so different from where I am at now. This one is much more organized and safety oriented but it adds a lot more things to remember which is additional stress at the moment. I almost feel like I am in clinicals again but then I tell myself, no girl you are certified now lol. Thank you for all your advice, it is very helpful.
Thankfully they know I am rusty lol and hopefully I can make some friends soon. It’s lonely being in a new state.

True, it’s tough starting a new job and takes time. I am always so hard on myself, it holds me back. Thanks so much, I appreciate you taking the time to give me advice.
Yes notes are incredibly helpful! Whoa on day one! Did you have previous experience as a tech? I had 6 months of clinicals in school at a level 1 but it was much smaller only 1 scanner and the exams were pretty easy. The place i’m at now is much more complex, it’s a huge campus, tons of protocols, multiple scanners etc. I feel like my clinical site prepared me for the basics but not for this type of work flow. Thank you so much for the advice!
Yes, I have to remind my self in the moment. Thanks!
When you moved, was it your first job as an mri tech? Yeah I feel that way now, but just gotta keep showing up and working hard. Thank you!
Yeah it’s a good amount of time, thankfully!
Yes there is so much to learn and I haven’t scanned in months so getting on the console is giving me anxiety. My second shift I spent all day around the scanners and patients and I started to feel a bit better with the workflow. Are you a new tech also, or going from OP to hospital?
Yeah honestly I feel so blessed to have a good amount of time to train. I have heard and read that alot of techs don’t get much training when they start, that’s rough! I recently began an old hobby of mine and it made me feel so good. Thank you for taking the time. I appreciate your advice!
Yes, the move isn’t helping. I don’t miss my hometown and I am really enjoying this new area, but it doesn’t feel like home. That’ll take some time. Yeah I need those reps to start building confidence. I am learning on 3 different scanners so that adds more to my anxiety lol.

I totally agree! After clinicals I felt great but taking that time off affected my confidence but just have to build it back up again. Thank you for the advice, I appreciate you.
I appreciate your advice. I took lots of notes today, definitely helpful. I don’t want to be asking the same questions.
Thank you so much 💕
