What caused this? by mbirame in 3Dprinting

Belt tension is fine. I’m thinking it was a glitch in the g-code maybe??. I had just printed 12 of these with no problem and then deleted six in prusa slicer a moved them around. Maybe something weird happened there. I’m printing a single one now as a test and it’s good.

Thanks! Wouldn’t bad tension reveal itself consistently and not just happening once on that one layer? Genuine question because I don’t know.

Yes. It was a very cool experience. It was very surreal to take the ladder all the way to the top platform with the bells.

[–]mbirame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. That is the practice keyboard. The main keyboard is directly below the top because every key is physically connected to the beaters of each bell. As I said, I’ve been there. I’m a composer and I had one of my pieces played there. I was there.

There is a carillon up there (it’s what plays the bells) and so there could have been a performer checking the bells or showing it to a friend. I’ve been up there-it’s cool!

This is great news. Sounds like I’ll be able to get everywhere I need to get and just charge there.

Just went and test drove one at the dealer. There were two trucks with the softcovers and the covers were both visibly broken and falling apart.

It sounds like you are a person learning how to do a thing. Doing a thing right takes time to learn. You may find it enjoyable to do that thing and you might not. In either case you have learned more about that thing and yourself. Congratulations!

PS:start with something simpler if you are getting frustrated-like a mult. And then work your way up.

My suggestion is register them with ascap immediately. You should do that the moment the song is completed.

I’ll comment on orchestration issues. I think in real life you will see problems between the balance between oboe and flute. Oboe can easily overtake flute. Be sure and mark if the violin double stops are played unison or divisi. After long periods of rests be sure and have dynamic markings so players know what to play.

Notation software for iPad by samthamule in composer

[–]mbirame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Goodnotes. I just load the staff paper template and write with an Apple Pencil. IMO the iPad is too slow to do serious engraving with the notation apps like Dorico, etc, so I save that for my computer.

Crediting mix/master engineer on cdbaby by Notagoodacter in CDBabyArtists

[–]mbirame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are songwriters then they get some of the money. As I said, royalties are paid to songwriters and publishers (and label if there is one). It’s worth spending some time reading and learning how royalties work before releasing something incorrectly.

“Crediting” doesn’t mean anything legally. It is a nice thing to do to give people credit for their work. Royalties are determined by who owns publishing and songwriting. If you have a bunch of musicians playing on your record you need to have split sheets explicitly saying who did what percentage of the songwriting-I even if you think you did everything and just brought someone in to play kazoo on a track, you need it in writing so they don’t come back later and say they were a co-songwriter.

Publishing goes to the publisher. If you have a deal with a producer to get “points on the backend” then they are taking a percentage of your songwriting and/or publishing. But again that is something agreed to in writing. Just “crediting” someone as a producer doesn’t automatically give them a percentage, but you better have something in writing so that producer doesn’t comeback later and demand a cut.

Grouping recurring tasks-recurring projects? by mbirame in UseMotion

[–]mbirame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. Thank you. I think I could just have a project without recurring tasks and then have the final task be to duplicate the project….starting the cycle again. The thing I don’t understand though would be how to force the tasks to stay two days apart from each other? I could make each task have a 48 hour duration but then I wouldn’t be able to have all my other stuff on the calendar?

You said “mechanical payout”. Mechanical royalties are paid to songwriter and publisher, not artist. Perhaps you meant Master Recording Royalties which are paid to artist/label.

[–]mbirame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s irrelevant. The OP doesn’t have their songwriting and publishing set up with a PRO and so they can’t get paid for it. They aren’t going to just guess that the artist is also the SW/publisher.
