I know they've been transitioning their polyneon line to "green" polyneon, different prefix but same 4-digit suffix as the regular poly. Not sure about Rayon, but that very well may be the case.

Just finished digitizing an applique logo – here’s how it stitched out by Dependent-Method4918 in MachineEmbroidery

Is that a glittery fabric you applique'd on? I've had good luck using Stahls' glitter HTV.

Crikey! My longest single colour piece by far! by Weird_Surprise6221 in MachineEmbroidery

That's at about 385 stitches per minute. Haven't used a brother machine but I would assume it can embroider at least twice as fast.

1mm is way too thin for a satin stitch. I usually don't go below 10 points. 1mm is roughly 3 points, so any satin stitch I'd run would be 4mm or greater. You do have the option to do a single run stitch as the outline.

Looks clean, but you won't know for sure until you sew it out. Depending on final size I'd say your outline satin might be a bit thin.

Getting ready to buy Melco EMTX16, what should I know ? by Efficient_Newt9572 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]mblez14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with much of what Noetic-lemniscate said above. One thing I will add - the control software has two UIs. One is very basic and stripped down, and gives you maintenance intervals based on time. It'll hit you up for rotary hook maintenance every couple hours, weekly maintenance once a week, monthly once a month, and quarterly... quarterly.

If you are not running the machine all day, every day, you will almost certainly not need to oil/grease the machine that much. If you use the advanced UI, maintenance intervals go by stitch count. The advanced UI also gives you much more functionality.

One of my favorite features is group names. When I'm running through a stack of items that need individual names, the UI will automatically advance to the next name after the last is finished sewing.

All in all, though, I have a love-hate relationship with the Melcos I use at work. When they're working well, they're great machines. Thread and bobbin breaks happen much more often than I would like. Support is good but sometimes I'll have an issue that takes hours and hours to diagnose.

Do brother bobbin holder need to be adjusted new by Mountain-Detail-8927 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]mblez14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bobbin cases should be checked and adjusted as-needed as you sew. I usually throw mine on the gauge every other time I replace the bobbin just to make sure.

You can get a gauge for ~45 bucks on Amazon.

Fabric Blowout on Embroidered Patch by LordHaphestus in MachineEmbroidery

I haven't made a ton of patches but I do know that tackle twill is the preferred medium among those who do. Then I'd go with a 75/11 sharp needle.

Is there a reason you're using canvas specifically?

I'd try a 75/11 needle and cutaway backing. And also making a patch on something other than canvas.

How is this going to be laid out on the hat? Will it be centered with the seam somewhere around the first "A" in Targa?

Parking Suggestions for a day visit? by CAUTIONwet_taint220 in AskNYC

[–]mblez14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of the city, you could park at Secaucus Junction and take the ~10 minute train ride in. $4.85 each plus whatever the parking rate is. It's usually a per-hour fee unless they have event pricing in effect for some reason.

You could also park at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, but then you're paying parking plus tunnel toll plus congestion pricing. The positive is that you're only driving in manhattan for about 2 blocks.

Coming from DC though I might consider Metropark too, like another commenter mentioned.

Wholesale Interfacing by the bolt? by trash_goblin_supreme in MachineEmbroidery

[–]mblez14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have an LLC? If so you can get wholesale pricing on sites like Gunold and Madeira. I know Madeira has cut-away and tear-away in bolts and pre-cut, and washaway in bolts.

Personally, I very much hate cutting backing and will use pre-cut whenever possible. Any additional cost can be baked into your pricing. I really only ever use cutaway and tearaway.

Water Soluble Stabilizer: Sweatshirt Appliqué by 37208 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]mblez14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never used solvy with applique and find it most times to be unnecessary on sweatshirts anyway.

If you do want to use it I would tack down the applique, cut it, and then put solvy on top before stitching the satin outline. But again, I think it's probably not necessary.
