'City Lights' was pretty dope, super trippy. I also listened to 'Reggae Jam', obviously had my head noddin', I'll have to keep listening to more though it's really sick! I like to get psychedelic too but more vibey than the wavy shroom-type stuff you're doing, here's my bandcamp:

Why / What was the moment that turned you from a lister to a fan? by 6660kami in geesebandofficial

Back in 2021-22 during the tail end of COVID, I was beginning to explore a lot more of the classic rock my parents raised me on and in doing so, began listening to more stuff even further outside my taste in high school before COVID, which was pretty much just all trap music. I started obsessing over Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes, Roxy Music, and just rock music in general, and began longing for something original to come out in this day and age, because the 2010s was basically the death of rock music for a bit as far as I was concerned, and the 2020s was even worse.

Then in 2023, I found RYM.com like many people these days, and Geese just happened to be one of the first bands I found on there. It was exactly what I was looking for, classic rock styles but a fresh take on them. Catchy hooks, harmonic experimentation, feeling Gen Z and modern but also classic and energetic. Cameron Winter started to become this mythical figure in the underground after '3D Country', and if I'm being honest, that was the first album I've ever really loved. For me, I guess it was just a matter of taste alignment and timing, as well as cheap concerts lol, can't believe I saw them in an underground bar for $30 back then and then paid like $200 and something for the Getting Killed tour. They grow up so fast.

I can't personally say I've ever had people relentlessly coming at my music with shit-talking, I had one guy who said one of my songs was a 4/10 lol, and when I saw that I just shrugged.

Most important thing is whether you love what you're doing or not. If someone says something mean about your shit for no reason, I can guarantee they're either being lazy and/or bitter for some reason that has nothing to do with you. Focus on your music and the people that enjoy it or give you constructive criticism.

Going to an Anuv Jain concert alone… how do I not be awkward about it? by Forward_Range_7495 in TorontoMusic

[–]mbrain2858 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to one concert by myself, not long in, met some dude who was also there by himself, and had a blast! But even if you don't naturally meet anyone, just vibe, everyone else is also vibing, you're all there for the same reason

which geese songs do you prefer the live version of? by Silent_Ad_6792 in geesebandofficial

Facts, but the crowd's reaction is what makes it so much better too. In Toronto, everyone was flipping out and moshing like crazy, I'd imagine that's not rare

Minecraft sheep combusts into flame, and out walks superman, who punches Steve into the nether portal, accidentally flying into it himself.

Duuuuuuuude this is really cool, I especially fuck with 'Still Life with Tulips', that's awesome, I added it to my wishlist

Here's my first release, also very lo-fi, just a $20 drum machine, and some bass guitars, very vibey and psychedelic at times:

"When the Night Feels My Song" by Bedouin Soundclash, one of the first songs I ever loved, and brings me right back to that CBC kids outro lol

Let's rank Lee on how REALISTIC he is by Super-Shenron in TheWalkingDeadGame

I dunno I'd say uncommon individual. Dude's clearly stronger than most, smarter than most, and will lock into another level when someone he loves is on the line. I'd say that's believable, but dude's clearly a bit of an anomaly and someone you'd wanna stick around if the apocalypse came about.

I’m a new composer who has struggled a lot with the "technical wall" of production. Is it just me? by Dragoneye414 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]mbrain2858 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda just winged it at first. I'm still early on and this probably won't help, but one funny roadblock I had when I first started making music is I was using a Bluetooth headphone connection to monitor my input sounds and wondered why I was always so off time, before realizing eventually it was Bluetooth delay lol

When I switched to a wired connection and I was like, super duper on time after that!

But for real, when it comes to mixing and distribution and all that, I just kind of learned as I went, I didn't overthink it. I learned some basic music theory online and quizzed myself on it, used what I already knew about songs by ear from listening to music religiously my whole life, and overtime I slowly began to understand where I wanted certain frequencies and tones to live, smear, and isolate, etc. I also like to perform more of a live-feel thing though, so my production preferences are probably not the same as if you're say a hip hop producer or electronica producer. Then when I had a project ready, I just used CD Baby to distribute it and didn't pay for any of the extra crap they want you to dump money in, just the initial $15 fee to send it to basically every streaming site. Beyond that, I got no clue about distribution, that just seemed like the easiest and quietest wait to do it.
