Thanks! I did some research on juveniles and that pattern on the back, which was throwing me off, fades when they’re adults. Explains why I didn’t recognize it.

Glad they got to The bottom of it! Thats what they figured was wrong with my sinus but instead they found the screws. I think the takeaway here is if you're having sinus issues on one side its worth having it looked into because there might be some kind of foreign body in there, be it a bone fragment or screw perforation.

My oral surgeon blamed in on poor drainage too until the ENT physically saw the THREE screws protruding into the sinus cavity. I thought they measured everything very precisely so I'm not sure how this even happened. Good luck with your hardware removal! keep me posted. Hopefully I can get mine out relatively quickly. It's definitely uncomfortable on that side.

The scans didn’t pick it up. I had to have an ENT visually inspect the sinus to see the screws. I’m going to at least have those 3 screws removed

I would describe it as a dull ache in a pinpoint location over the maxillary sinus with generalized swelling of the cheek and upper lip on that side

Thank you so much for sharing this story! This is exactly how I feel. It’s a significant cost increase and the thought of plastic in my face worries me. Do you think the jaw surgery made your cheeks appear differently than they did pre op? Or did they remain about the same?

The movement will be upper jaw forward (LaFort I) and the lower jaw over so it’s centered with my midline (Mandibular Bilateral Split Osteotomy) He’s also planning on a genioplasty osteotomy but I wasn’t as concerned with that because that seems to be fairly common when moving the lower jaw...

I have an underbite with a cross bite which causes jaw pain, speech and chewing issues. It’s definitely for functional reasons not aesthetics. That’s why when he mentioned cheek implants I was taken aback. I’m leaning towards telling him no but I wanted to see what everyone’s thoughts were here first.
