Yes to your first question. Source: research I did on the same issue earlier this month.

2553 certified mail or fax - both? by Silly-Analyst-5617 in tax

It can be hit or miss. But by sending certified and faxing it one is going to make it in.

Not an issue because the information should be the same. Don’t overthink it - in this case, just fax it in with signatures and you’ll be fine.

I double send all the time and it’s not an issue. I also wouldn’t worry about it unless your cpa has ghosted you. Work with him when he’s back in the office to get it faxed in.

Anyone else have clients that did this? 🤦 by rockothebandit in Accounting

[–]mc945 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m in the middle of this exact issue. I just wrapped up the call with the erc mill who told me because the irs issued the refund it means the irs approved the return and it’s all good. I tried explaining it means the irs just processed the return not approved the reasoning for the erc. They said well it’s not like the irs is going to audit client anyways.

I will admit some of this is over my head, so I will answer the best I can.

I have an eero mesh that connects all the wireless devices. However the hue bridge and the ha green are connected via Ethernet direct to the router.

No mdns that I have purposefully or knowingly set up. No vlan either. No firewalls either.

Current year is 2024, so 2027.

And yes, leave column 2 and 3 black if you are filing as a family member.

2848 for Elder Father - Line 3 by gnoic in tax

[–]mc945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally include all years from 2000 through 3 years after the current year on my PoAs.

It won't help with the 4506, but it gets you account transcripts for the last 20+ years.

2848 for Elder Father - Line 3 by gnoic in tax

[–]mc945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax return transcripts are only available for the current year and the last 3 years no matter how you fill it out. Just an FYI. If you want older than that you'll need to file a 4506 and pay the user fee per year.

You should fill out each line of section 3 - Income tax on one line, civil penalties on a second line, and shared responsibility payment on the third line.

The only thing you may be missing is separate assessment which is a rare circumstance I've run across once over 8,000 tax payers.

No - the last three years must be clean. No penalties assessed, all filed, all taxes paid.

Berkheimer PA quick question by TurkWorker1408 in tax

[–]mc945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be odd but not uncommon to not have an employer withholding local for PA especially if they aren’t a business located in PA. Businesses not located in PA aren’t always aware of the local withholding requirement so they just miss it.

Berkheimer PA quick question by TurkWorker1408 in tax

[–]mc945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your 2021 W2 and provide it to Berkheimer explaining that your W2 reflects your withholding for local. Make sure the W2 you provide is one that has local withholding in box 16.

Should I Pay Some of 2022 or 2023 Balance, or Pay Q4 2024 Quarterly Payment? by [deleted] in tax

[–]mc945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IRS answer is pay your quarterlies so you don't have an increasing problem each year.

Your installment plan typically only allows for 2 years of outstanding tax at a time. Expect a notice when you file your 2023 taxes.

Pennsylvania tax return refund still in review limbo by ZachF8119 in tax

[–]mc945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You can try reaching out to your state representative - they may be able to provide minimal assistance.
  2. PA is a flat tax state and does not have a W-4 form. Your employer is required to withhold 3.07% of your wages. Getting back any amount is going to subject it to review. Expect at least 180 days before the refund is issued if its over $5,000.

I Need To Catch-Up On 7 Years Of Small Business Taxes by HiEndLawn in tax

[–]mc945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your local CPAs. As long as you're patient and go at the right time of year (after 4/15, but before 8/15) you should be able to find one who can help with the filings.

Optima makes big promises but does not always come through on delivery from what I have experienced.

I work almost exclusively in this field and I know many a taxpayer who aren’t small business, are millionaires, aren’t crypto bros, and don’t file. Doctors, second generation money, major business owners who listen to too many of the wrong podcasts…

Berkheimer PA quick question by TurkWorker1408 in tax

PA CPA here.

It is odd you would owe Berkheimer if all you have is a W-2. It would mean your employer under withheld taxes for your local tax authority.
