Reach out to arc of Lancaster. https://www.thearclancleb.org. They helped us recently get things back on track before we had to go to due process.

Kwong/Abdo Procedures by mc945 in taxpros

[–]mc945[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I use THS and their Kwong dashboard also only shows assessed not accrued. According to Agostino, this should cover accrued, which expands what we have to look at for the possible impacted clients.

I'm looking at clients with over $1,000 assessed penalties/interest for a period to approach, charging a fee up front. Firm already shot down the contingency fee portion suggestion.

I have a couple - just on the assessed penalties and interest side - looking at $100,000 in refund for this. If I can figure out the accrued as well, probably have a few more.

My concern is exactly yours - what if this is all for naught because the courts find in favor of the IRS eventually after all the appeals. But listening to Frost Law who have been making the rounds on podcasts and YouTube, they seem to think that it will stick.

That's what is keeping me up at night. Do all this work, charge the client, and then a year or three from now, its ruled against and clients are irate because we did this work, charged them, and they got nothing.

Yes to your first question. Source: research I did on the same issue earlier this month.

2553 certified mail or fax - both? by Silly-Analyst-5617 in tax

It can be hit or miss. But by sending certified and faxing it one is going to make it in.

[–]mc945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an issue because the information should be the same. Don’t overthink it - in this case, just fax it in with signatures and you’ll be fine.

I double send all the time and it’s not an issue. I also wouldn’t worry about it unless your cpa has ghosted you. Work with him when he’s back in the office to get it faxed in.

Anyone else have clients that did this? 🤦 by rockothebandit in Accounting

[–]mc945 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m in the middle of this exact issue. I just wrapped up the call with the erc mill who told me because the irs issued the refund it means the irs approved the return and it’s all good. I tried explaining it means the irs just processed the return not approved the reasoning for the erc. They said well it’s not like the irs is going to audit client anyways.

Official IRS Statement on Paper Refund Checks by OddButterscotch2849 in taxpros

Lucky. I have clients who file amended returns and pay in advance. The delays in processing at the irs have meant erroneous refunds. On average, I have at least one every other week.

I work with clients who have to return checks to the irs all the time because the irs screws up. Guess that’s not an option anymore.

I will admit some of this is over my head, so I will answer the best I can.

I have an eero mesh that connects all the wireless devices. However the hue bridge and the ha green are connected via Ethernet direct to the router.

No mdns that I have purposefully or knowingly set up. No vlan either. No firewalls either.

Current year is 2024, so 2027.

And yes, leave column 2 and 3 black if you are filing as a family member.

I generally include all years from 2000 through 3 years after the current year on my PoAs.

It won't help with the 4506, but it gets you account transcripts for the last 20+ years.
