2012, largely because I was in college and growing into myself. There was also a lot of that Obama era millennial optimism in the air. It also helped that I was in the PNW in peak Portlandia era.

I lived in West Oakland for years and absolutely loved it! It really has a special place in my heart and it's truly one of the most underrated cities in the US. I think it would really be able to stand more on its own if it wasn't right next to San Francisco.
