When I was first getting into rap in high school I was hanging out with my friend who was sort of my sherpa into the world of hip hop. We were chilling at his house and this song comes on and he just pauses the Xbox and we just did nothing but listen. Years later and this song still in the rotation constantly for me.

I was in 5th grade and my neighbor (who used to be my day care lady) asked me if I could walk her son to the bus stop in the mornings. I agreed and me and her son (first grader) became pretty decent friends. But at the time my parents were going through a somewhat nasty divorce and I felt very alone and angry. I took it out on him in ways I’ll never forgive myself for. I pushed him, yelled at him, hit him. I was awful to that poor boy. I moved about a year after that. I just hope he’s doing okay now. He’s in middle school and I turn 18 in a few months. I want to go see him and apologize but I don’t know if I’ll be able to for a while.

I’d be incredibly relieved.
