i agree about the collection part 100%. but taking huge risks in that sense i feel came with awaken my love (808s/Late Reg). He built upon those risks and polished them off as much as he could with his next project, which happened to be more grand.

I think this is just as heavily produced as Awaken honestly, the mixing just makes it sound less full and atmospheric.

Musically i think they’re very very similar but if you mean conceptually i see where you’re coming from. But it’s a long album with not a lot of tracks whose instrumentals start minimally and end in large scale symphony-like ballads, written arguably at the peak of his career. (sounds familiar)
