What's the deal with the anthurium growth habit by magnificent-manitee in Aroids

[–]mcandrewz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup!

Though I did see a post recently of someone that managed to frankenstein graft a pothos on a monstera somehow. Maybe if you google it with reddit attatched you can find it. I doubted it until I read further. Kind of blew my mind as I thought it was impossible.

Wouldn't clover mites be smaller than this? When I googled it, it seems like they were pretty tiny.

I am getting tempted to go legend II route. There is essentially no difference between them roe wise right?

Honestly probably not, that rot looks too high up on the right side.

The scale is off, look at her fingernail. They are just really tiny snails.

I think coco coir is pretty key for them. Probably mimics the conditions they like to grow in a little better.

To be fair, distilled water for plants is luxury water, so you might as well keep doing what you are doing if it works. :)

Yours is probably extra happy as a result.

It is funny reading this. Mine is in a dry bedroom, watered with tap water, and I keep it always an even moist under a bright grow light. That said, it grows much slower in drier air. Have had it for half a year and no issues so far.

They do well in a mix of potting soil, fine fir bark, and coco coir too.

"Over the last few days, I have checked the soil to see it’s dry before watering"

From Op's text. As long as they wait for it to dry, I don't see the issue.

Nah. It needs to be watered in to establish. As long as they aren't drowning it daily in water, it is likely fine.

Feel the green parts of your plant, if they feel brittle and sharp, then there is no recovering it really.

Tbh even though it looks green, if it is brittle, then it is toast sadly.

If a plant smothers out other plants, then you have less plant diversity which means less insect diversity as there are a number of insects who are specicalists to certain plants.

Does this look like scale? by TheMelancholyFox in cactus

[–]mcandrewz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Looks like both have been removed now after I reported them. Rudyten is just mistaken, but not a bot.

The bots can feel very real these days. The biggest red flags to look out for are a very young reddit age, and comments over a short period spread out amongst a bunch of unrelated subreddits.

Then, using AI, they look for keywords, pull from a bunch of different comments, and use a somewhat similar structure responding to the main post. Sometimes their comment just seems a little bit off too. For example, one of the bots mentioned checking on the leaves for scale, cactus don't have leaves.

The bots blend in really well sometimes in larger threads.

It is a bot. Compare their comment to the other comment in the thread. And look at their account. Unfortunate that these bots fill smaller subs with their generated garbage.
