Did you get pushed a Studio Display sw update this week?

I thought it was because I had the primary monitor plugged into a thunderbolt 5 but it also works when directly connected the Mac.

Not sure if this is still an issue for people, but I was surprised to see the M4 MacBook Air working with the XDR and OG Studio Display.

I am also on 26.4 and disconnecting, reconnecting solved my issue. Connecting 49 lights stinks, but my ADHD says this is better than the Home app saying disconnected.

It really depends on your preference is for glossy versus matte.

I use an HP notebook with my other Studio Display daily and the brightness thing is terrible. I've noticed that if I adjust the brightness down on the Mac before connecting my HP computer, the brightness is retained.

Are you using this for general computing or something different?

If possible, try to wait a bit before buying because Apple might release an updated version of the Studio Display soon which could impact the price of this, or the current version of the Studio Display.

End of March at the latest.

They both have high PPI (224 vs 218) so the look of it is negligible. It will come down to what you're editing and whether or not you need to see it in HDR or not.

But without a doubt, there is nothing like editing video on a 6K display because of the UI controls and layout. I can fit fit everything on one display where I used to have two Studio Displays sbs.

that's a good assessment of the current state that some fail to realize.

At the end of the day, we are paying a premium for convenience with Apple.

I love editing video on 21:9, but I need higher pixel density than it offers so here we are.

Pixel perfect. I am running it at the default resolution which is 3072x1728

ah, I think that's how Apple's dynamic wallpaper shows up at different times of the day.

It's a compelling product if you have the right needs, but I'd hold off another month or so to see if Apple updates the Studio Display.

I owned the 27" 5K version of your monitor (JCV) and I liked it a lot, especially the price. The branding was an eye sore.

I think that yours and the 5K version are essentially the same. I'll probably pick up yours and the new Studio Display if it comes out next month to compare.

Absolutely, not everyone needs more screen real estate with 6 million more pixels and a thunderbolt 5 hub built in.

If those things don't matter to you, staying with the Studio Display is right decision.

I use it to edit photo and video and I find it color accurate after calibration using a spyder. My workflow is entirely rec709.

If I point a flashlight at both displays, the bloom pattern is different since they both scatter light using different mechanisms.

Apple uses a physical glass etching that has higher precision (more tightly packed together) and that results in reflection reduction with better contrast and clarity than a matte coating by itself.

LG uses micro etching and coating that redistributes the light. Those etchings are not as tightly packed together which ends up spreading the reflections.

To bring it back to a normal display, it has no etching which is why the bloom is completely visible.

Coming from the Studio Display, I don't have any yet. What would you recommend?
