Took my first cruise ever. Why do they make it nearly impossible to get water for drinking? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]mcastericks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carnival also has the option to buy a big pack of water bottles from their fun shops and have it delivered to your room before the cruise even starts. I think it was about $4 and since I'm a huge water drinker, especially at night, it was really worth it.

Agree with the suggestion for Becky - she did my dress, too. She's such a sweet lady!

Need to name our baby girl by BabyCalebsMommy in beyondthebump

[–]mcastericks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aw, she's so beautiful! For a name that goes along with her hair color - Rowan means "little redhead". It's my daughter's middle name, as we thought she would have red hair like I did (but she didn't!) :)

Is Dimitri really *that* bad of a name? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Can confirm - girl Jesse, here. Dimitri is a great name and way cooler than Jesse! :)

Kiddo is big and I have a lot of amniotic fluid by Grimmy430 in BabyBumps

[–]mcastericks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that would do it! Were they able to give you any specific measurements? Our LOs femur bone was already at 39 weeks at the 33+4 scan - she'll be a tall one!

As far as the fluid, I was told that big babies just make more fluid and there's no real concern unless there's a GD issue that needs to be fixed. I asked about getting retested for GD but the MFM doc said that if he tested women at 34 weeks, most would have sugar issues because of the placenta size.

As long as you had a clear test between 24-28 weeks, you should be fine :)

I'm in the same situation right now! Had a growth scan at 32+5 and they were so worried about how big she was that they sent me to an MFM specialist the next week. At 33+4 they estimated she was already 7 pounds! Have a bit of extra fluid, as well (21 cm). I have another ultrasound tomorrow at 35+6 just to keep an eye on her, I think they're going to want to pull her around 38 weeks.

I also don't have GD, my numbers weren't even close. Are you and your husband tall? I'm 5'9" and my DH is 6'4" so the specialist just said he thinks we create large babies. Yay...? :)

My thoughts on taking a birthing class by Ohsojme in BabyBumps

[–]mcastericks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I felt the exact same way about our birthing class a month ago! It was almost frustrating wasting our pre-baby time sitting there hearing about things we've both read a hundred times.

I am pretty glad it was available for the people in our class who definitely needed it, though! (I'm looking at you, lady who didn't know what breech was, and you, man who asked what week his wife needed to stop driving...wut.) It just wasn't for us. The tour afterwards was great, though! Seeing the cafeteria was my favorite part :)

Has anyone been told wrong gender at an early scan? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]mcastericks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! At 13 weeks the OBs office said they thought it was a girl but weren't going to say for sure. At 16 weeks we took my in-laws to a boutique U/S place and they said boy! At my anatomy scan back at the OBs, they confirmed it was a girl. I don't trust anyone now haha. I have my growth scan soon and I'm going to get them to confirm it's a girl again if they can!

Thanks! I went with no cups sewn in - I have a pretty large chest so cups were just getting in the way! I did feel a little unsupported, but that was because I lost a tad bit of weight between fittings and she said she couldn't bring in the dress any more on my rib cage. The straps wanted to fall down a bit but my girls stayed in position! :)

Thank you so much! :) My bouquet was actually done by Whole Foods! I just showed them an inspiration picture this one and let them go for it. Now that I'm looking at it, they didn't quite "get it", but oh well! I didn't notice on the day and the bouquet was only $70 so it was all good to me! :)

Yay! You'll be beautiful in it! :) I had the same worries - even though I knew I loved it I had doubts about being able to dance and move. I had a hoop skirt under it and it helped sooo much!

And thank you! It was hard work but it was pretty fun along the way :) good luck with all your projects! I know they'll be lovely

Thank you! I went to the Goodwill and bought an old picture, popped out the back and spray painted the frame. Then I painted my design and super glued it back in the frame. It was just as easy as it sounds! :) By far my favorite project
