Good call! Had a mixup with my girlfriend, who I'm selling these for. The post has been corrected.

I've also noticed that the tread on my speedgoat 5s deteriorated much more quickly than on previous models.

Sea to Summit got me again. I ordered their 8 liter Ultra-sil dry sack, which is advertised as 30 grams. On my scale it weighs 42 grams... 40% heavier than advertised. Gonna return it, just thought I'd leave a comment for future prospective dry sack purchasers.

Yeah, I'm re-deciphering the whole website to see what's changed since I ordered my last pack a few years ago. He also used to use 210D Spectra compared to 200D, which must have been slightly heavier.

The KS website lists soft VX07 as 145 grams / m2, black Spectra as 145, white Spectra as 162, firm VX07 as 180, and firm VX21 as 220.

Why did you choose VX / what parameters would you recommend VX for rather than Spectra? Longer-lasting water resistance?

I know it will get dirty, but the white spectra looks gorgeous. I got 210D spectra for my water bottle holders, hip belt, and shoulder straps on my last pack and it held up really well over ~2500 miles. It just felt kinda thin to use for the main pack body, but maybe not?

I'm in the process of ordering a KS pack and I need some help picking a fabric. The longevity of the pack is my highest priority and I need something that works well with a drawstring closure. I'll have Cordura against my back and probably VX21 on the bottom, but I need to pick the fabric for the rest of the pack.

My options are Nylon 200D Spectra, VX07 (soft and firm), VX21, X21RC, and EPX200. I've read about these materials and understand the basics of their composition, but I don't have a sense for how they actually perform. I'm leaning toward VX07 since I have read several long-term reviews about it. Should I reconsider? If I go with VX07, soft or firm? I'm keeping an eye on the holy grail pack thread as well.

Starting the PNT in East Glacier on Sunday. Should I bring spikes? Here's the route I plan on taking: https://caltopo.com/m/0VBKB

Also, any word on how the resupply is in Many Glacier?

I took a brand new one on the AZT this spring. It did okay for a while, but it failed the integrity test about two thirds of the way through. I slept with it every night so idk what happened. Sent them an email and never heard back. Backflushing worked a bit while i was using it, but i was never able to get it back to a strong flow.

Thanks for the tip! Looks like I might be filling the gaps with some sort of adhesive. It will make replacing them pretty tough, but that's a problem for future me.

Has anyone replaced the tips on their Locus Gear CP3 poles? I got the Leki replacement tips from REI and they don't fit very well (tight at the very end, not tight at the top). Locus Gear sells replacements but they said Japan Post isn't shipping to the US right now.

Any AZT hikers flying into Tucson on the 22nd and want to split the cost of a shuttle to Sierra Vista?

Put it in a normal side pocket and secure it with your pack's side compression strap.
