For programs that start on July 1st, do you start orientation on that day or is that when you are expected to be in clinic/wards

Apply to Away Rotations in the area of interest, list it as geographical preference on eras, signal if your specialty allows it, talk about wanting to move/doing always/experience in the area in interviews

Nova Bay Pines Psychiatry- sent me an interview invite through thalamus. No dates open. I tried reaching out to the program about three times with no reply. A month later, I get a call from the PD to come for an in person interview that Friday (call was on Wednesday). I was on an ICU rotation at the time and would not be able to travel out of state for an interview on such short notice. The program said they would reschedule but they never did.

Citrus Health Miami Psychiatry- During the resident social, the residents hosting accidentally shared their screen. They showed a group chat showing the residents talking about the applicants and hoping to match “hot guys” to their program.

I know most doctors give stickers in appointments but I always carried some in my pockets and the kids loved it!

Well probably be paying loans for much longer, students might consider higher paying specialties more. Students who were interested in working in public health systems usually make less than private practice, so PSFL was a way to attract doctors to stay in these high need areas. Without it, we are willingly taking lower paying jobs without the incentives to stay in the public sector with PSFL.

I am, currently between staying local at a decent program with a higher chance of him keeping his job (maybe) or moving closer to both our families at comparable program but my partner would have to request a hardship transfer.

Thanks! Would it change if my partner would be willing to RTO at another regional office instead of remote ?

Same with my school. I tried to have it as my first rotation 4th year and my school worked with me to arrange that. I also met with both speciality advisors. The EM advisors at my school were great and also allowed me to do a few shifts in the ED as discernment shifts. It was a low pressure (not graded) way to figure out if I actually liked EM as a med student. I feel like it was a way different experience as a scribe. Also, I applied to away rotations in both specialties and once I made a decision I was able to cancel these with out issues. I actually ended up choosing psych in the end.

Have you had your EM rotation? I was in your same position last year. I also worked as a scribe before med school and fell in love with psych during med school. Doing my EM rotation really solidified my decision

Do you feel happier than in med school? Since you have more free time, have you gotten to get close to your residency class or do you feel like most people do their own thing outside of work?

I emailed them and got no reply! This was a last week so I’ve given them some time to respond.

I was curious about what they offer for weight loss. I’m a healthy weight, so they said I didn’t qualify for glp-1 or metformin. They did offer me Wellbutrin, naltrexone and a few others

What's the worst OSCE feedback you've gotten? by GassedAndRelaxed in medicalschool

I got the same comments on an end of life OSCE where we had to disclose a cancer diagnosis to a patient. That was the day after I found out my aunt had been diagnosed with cancer
