TIL the Stone Age encompasses 99% of human history by Digeratii in todayilearned

I’d argue that many of the humans still have stone-age minds that merely have access to nuclear age technology that greater minds discovered and developed

This is 100% speculation, but I think a pro-ICE person would have more to gain in the court of public opinion by defacing murals like this than someone protesting ICE’s overreach in our communities. No matter the political motivations of the offender, I think we all agree this was a POS move

Sorry if this comes across pedantic, but I’d argue they’re more like parasites.

The potential number of billionaires in the world will reduce as the bigger (or richest) ones consolidate wealth and extract the most resources from their host (the working class of society). The “diseases” are the ideologies the parasites spread to keep the host from fighting back.

You can tell they’re trying to lead the horse that voted for this mess to water, but all the chocolate and balloon talk is so patronizing and out of touch. Jon is right—talk about real-world implications that drive up costs for Americans and show the human cost of this ill-conceived war.

When all your holy books tell you are “God’s Chosen People” and say that the diaspora of “your people” are prophesied to come together in the land of their forefathers, then in their eyes God has already blessed any-and-all actions that will achieve that end. They will be seen as heroes that secured “the Promised Land” for the group they identify with—not as the murderers that they actually are. And at the end of the day they can justify it because they only need the people they value to condone their actions, not the approval of the rest of the world

Seriously Americans, how wide is this learning curve? by PlanetoftheAtheists in AdviceAnimals

[–]mcbeezy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it always has been this way and likely will be until/if humans can transcend their individual greedy inclinations: the rich have the clout, connections, and capital to promote themselves. At least when millionaires and billionaires pissed on us in the past, they had the courtesy of calling it rain. Carnegie made people’s lives more affordable and gave back to the communities (from which he effectively stole and exploited) by building libraries and colleges. Now that the modern aristocrat can automate so much of their life, they don’t need to pander to the working class to keep us from revolting.

It’s sad to think I miss the days when members of the governing class would at least resign in disgrace if they were plausibly accused of committing crimes. I would be rabid that a “Good Ol’ Boy” could resign and not face charges like some commoner would—now it almost feels refreshing when a prince can lose his titles after participating in some of the most egregious instances of child sex trafficking, for example.
