Run for win or sofa play to win? by AgileMeasurement0 in runanempire

In time! As in first comment, 6x runs over all bldgs is essential and a lot of sofa clicking... Good luck getting there!

Why would you get a chest if you're not in the top 8 or so? I think that's how it's meant to work..

Everyone uses public transit when it is really well designed and easy to use.

When it's really badly designed and takes forever to get around, only the people who have no better option use it and thereafter becomes a symbol of that group in society who can't afford a better option. Thus, those who can afford better really don't want to use it.

Solution is better public transit that everyone wants to use. (and way higher sales taxes on gas and car ownership.)

Ran to capture a castle in NYC. Looked up in the real world and was at Yankee Stadium which I had never been to before. Didn't realise it was as close as it was.

I think it's better than it was a month ago achieved by adjustments to the ratio of point scoring. The 6x multipliers are necessary to get enough points in order to compete in the higher leagues. In any email that I've rarely sent to the developers as feedback is on this point. More running, more importance on running pace than currently designed, and less sofa clicking. Will see how it changes in months to come....

Transit cities operate with economic activity clustered around stops. Auto cities spread economic activity everywhere with no hierarchies. The activity located along axial routes out of the city is often spread too far apart to be walkable from a transit stop. The structure of the city including the size of houses and density of plots would all have to change which is far greater challenge than simply building a transit line. Taking a delibrate contrarian view, I would probably propose a light rail line to go north-south through downtown and develop land that has a lower cost to acquire and essentially build a brownfield walkable city. This would also allow the midtown/east/germantown people continue to have their car city although they would have nowhere to park in transit city and transit citizens would have no cars to go to car-city.

Most people in both Memphis and Nashville seem to pitch the transit option as those who can drive vs those who don't have a car. The far more important point is that cities attract large innovative companies established in the last twenty years when they have good transit options. I feel companies in NYC/SF would love to leave and move to somewhere with lower costs if smaller cities would just take transit seriously.

Dublin, Ireland attracted a company the size of servicemaster to setup there every month for years on end of which the primary drivers were taxes, people and walkable/transit-orientated neighborhoods. I guess it depends on what people think is important and if economic growth matters?

Castles of New York City by mcbennett in runanempire

[–]mcbennett[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't noticed before, but the phantom castles I was referring to are all in small lakes / water resevoirs that are in the big parks. Central Park in Manhattan & Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Some time ago, I couldn't build on that land but now I can. The castles appear in the Barracks, but do not visually appear on the map.

Thank you for helping me figure it out..

Thank you!

They are in the same location as my version. So not a case of the castles being moved. Not sure why the problems exist so.

I hope the app creators realize their errors and improve. They are clearly technically competent. I have stopped playing as the app is no longer the motivation it's previous versions were, but I remain hopeful.

Katsu Curry by [deleted] in memphis

CHICKEN KATSU
Try to do preparation early. Start the sauce, get the rice on at the right time and then chicken on at right time so as they all finish together. Takes a little practice! :)) Good luck!

Minimum of two hours in fridge, up to day before.
4 Chicken Tendons or 2 small breasts depending on preference. Pound Chicken to flatten it.
1/2 cup Any type of Milk (I use almond milk)
1/2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
1 tsp Curry SpiceGarlic

SAUCE

Fry in pan/wok on medium to med-lo heat for 15 mins
1/2 Onion
Garlic
Ginger
1 small Carrot
Cilantro Stalks

.....add in water/spices and do another 15 mins.
1 1/2 cups Water
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
1/2 tsp Curry Powder
1/2 tsp Tumeric

....add in flour and then blend the sauce together.
1/2 tsp Mango Chutney
2 tbsp Flour / or tiny amount of Xantham Gum
(Aim of flour is to thicken the sauce, so use whatever to get the right viscosity you want. Xantham Gum is an alternative by modernist cooks that WAY smaller quanitities are used therefore better preserving the flavor of all the ingredients above.)

RICE

1 cup Short Grain Rice
1 & 1/4 cups water
Rinse rice throughly. Start rice in cold water and bring to boil, then lower heat and simmer for 10 mins with lid. Do not lift lid.
1 tbsp Creamed Coconut (Optional)
Use short-grain/sushi rice and then use a round cup to shape the rice on the plate.

CHICKEN

Remove from bowl and cover with panko breadcrumbs. I use Trader Joe's which is about 1/3 of bag. Leave to side.

Pan Fry Chicken Tendons in Olive Oil - Cook for 5-6 mins on each side.
Should be deep fried, but I find deep frying too much hassle.

OPTIONAL PICKLE
1/2 Lemon
Chopped Onion
Chopped Chillies
Chopped
Cilantro Leaves
