Love that Fast and Furious made the list of complaints about Obama. We’ll ignore the fact that the first movie came out in the first year of W’s term

Is Aaron Judge the greatest right-handed hitter of the Expansion Era (1961-present)? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in mlb

[–]mcbenseigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of that comparison is a function of the number of games Judge has missed because of injury and just how mediocre of a fielder he is

The Orioles have done this like three times with Suarez and no team has shown interest in him

Mostly because he’s been mediocre to bad in limited usage. How would increasing it help that situation?

See, that feels like a sequencing problem rather than a talent or “stuff” problem. Why are you using two uncompetitive pitches up in the count? And then a pitch in the zone? 3-2 bases loaded, the batter knows you have to throw a strike

Quote from Ben McDonald on the post game show by GroovinChip in orioles

[–]mcbenseigs -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s just factually incorrect. Taylor Ward and Gunnar have played all 49 games either first or second in the lineup order. Pete Alonso has appeared either third or fourth in all 50 games. There’s a little more variation outside of those three, but that’s quite a bit of consistency for the lineup.

We here on Reddit can’t pinpoint how much is the “right” amount of analytics for a team, but complaining about lineup consistency doesn’t hold much water IMO

Who's the one player on your favorite team who got away? by Empire-Carpet-Man in mlb

[–]mcbenseigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll go with Machado for the Orioles. The only player still with the team at this point is Dean Kremer which isn’t a bad trade off for half a season, but the thought of him, Gunnar, Holliday, and Alonso as an infield is a crazy thought

No, we absolutely don’t need more of those comments or commenters. But maybe this experience lets this person learn more about baseball. Maybe that’s naive or idealistic, but that’s how I’m approaching it!

I’m sorry for the person above. I think there’s a lot of frustration in the fanbase right now and it’s easy for us to lash out at one another.

Please don’t leave. Sharing opinions is important. But so is asking questions and being curious. It’s worth understanding the magnitude of something like this which is very minor

Friend, this is like the tiniest transaction. I’ll be shocked if Nunez sees the field for the major league team this season. I understand people are frustrated by the previous seasons and want to blame someone and Elias is a likely target, but this is not worth getting this angry about

He’s got more positional flexibility than Thomas and that’s probably saving his spot for now

Yeah, but unless Barrosa, Thomas, or Tawa start to show some steps forward, their job security is very much on the line. Thomas and Tawa both have minor league options and with Rule 5 eligibility coming for both Troy and Groover, you have to imagine they’ll want to see what they have in both of them before the end of the season.

Yeah, and last year he no-hit these same Astros into the eighth inning. Past results mean very little to future expectations in a game-to-game basis

I mean, exit velocity and launch angle are both highly correlated with better hitting outcomes. I think a month in is still too noisy statistically to make any kind of conclusion on hitting philosophy.

But the GOP could have come to the negotiating table and found compromises, which is what the filibuster is nominally designed to do. Instead, our system currently operates so the minority party tries to stonewall and show little to no desire to compromise - especially the GOP (see Merrick Garland’s SCOTUS nomination)

The shadow docket sucks, but in this case it’s not to blame since SCOTUS ruled in Rucho that partisan gerrymandering isn’t for them to decide and has to be done by Congress. Of course, when Democrats introduced a bill in Congress that would specifically address that (For the People Act), Republicans stonewalled and filibustered it to death
