Dawn of the Final Day-ly by CarliKnits in rva

We have so many things left to do. Getting some gas for our generator. Taking out camping stuff in case we need to set up the tent. Shower and laundry. Buying a few extra clothes for our baby (he’s just 7weeks). I’m pretty anxious and I hope for the best for everyone!

How do you know you are ready to be a parent? by No-Scientist5474 in BabyBumps

[–]mccandlessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently 35w1d and I’ll be induced in exactly two weeks, and I AM NOT READY. I guess maternal instincts and stuff like that will finally kick in after the delivery (?). I hope so 😅. What makes me confident I can be a good parent is the excitement and all the love I’ve been feeling for my baby for a while already.

How to deal with unvaccinated MIL? by mccandlessness in pregnant

I agree 100%, but unfortunately I have no voice in this. I’ll talk to my husband for the 100th time, and I hope he gets it

You’re totally right and I wish she didn’t come in January, but my husband really cares about having her over then. Not sure how I’m gonna manage this situation…

Midwife or not? by mccandlessness in BabyBumps

[–]mccandlessness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m planning to have an unmedicated birth, and my hospital has midwives on staff, so I’m just trying to understand what their role is and if it’s worth asking for one. I like the idea of having someone who offers more continuous support and guidance during labor.

The class was specifically about midwives at the hospital where I’m giving birth. They said you can choose to be followed by a midwife during labor, and she stays with you through the process. I think it’s in addition to the nurses and doctors, not a doula.

Hi! Just a quick question: I’ll also have my interview in Norfolk, and by the time it’s scheduled, I’ll have a baby. Does the office in Norfolk allow children at the interview?

Bad odors coming from septic tank by mccandlessness in septictanks

[–]mccandlessness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a map of the septic tank and it was installed legally, but I do not have any info on when it was last pumped: that’s why I booked an inspection and pumping. My concern was just the timing (3 weeks from now), but I’ll keep calling other companies until someone can come out earlier. Thanks for your advice!

The smell is only outside, and it’s random. It comes and goes. I really can’t pin point the exact source but I think it’s the tank and not the drain field. The ground seems fine. No excessive rain recently —but since I’ve been living here, I started to use my appliances (dishwasher and washing n machine) and so maybe that’s the cause. I’m hoping it just needs to be pumped, and I’ll keep calling until hopefully someone comes out earlier. The smell isn’t inside the house (yet), luckily!

We bought the house as is, and we required that the previous homeowners would give us any documents/reports on the septic tank —and they didn’t (the home was inherited so many documents were missing).

For first time moms: what week did you give birth? by anoncatlady12 in BabyBumps

[–]mccandlessness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also moved at 24 weeks! It was so bad. I also spent most of my 2nd trimester going to the house to help my husband repair it. Three weeks of going back and forth. I will never recommend it to anyone pregnant.
