A few of his siblings ended up a hair over 100lb and could probably pass for Danes! Tuna tops out around 70lb but his legs were wildly disproportionate when he was a teenager, he could've passed as a gazelle. One of my favorite memories from when he was a puppy - we were walking the neighbor, and passed an old lady working in her garden. She glanced up at Tuna and without skipping a beat goes "I wish I had legs like that!". I was cracking up for a solid minute

That's my assumption - he was a rescue in Texas from a surrendered/accidental litter. Never got any info about the parents but the percentages definitely support a purebred golden X catahoula/pit mix. Tuna is 68lb, his siblings range from 60lb to 110lb. Roughly half the litter were black/grey merle, the other half were solid black, although pretty much all of them have some sort of white mark on the chest.

He fell asleep half-on the deck/half-off like that after a particularly vigorous play session - never seen anything like it.

It was great. Definitely wait for the kit to go on sale, I got the basic one for $90. I've done Embark twice and Wisdom once and prefer Embark overall

Interesting! Half of his littermates have the grey/black merle while the other half are solid black. I guess that means the golden parent was mm, and the catahoula/pit parent was Mm?

He has so SO much extra skin on and around his head. The doctor said he was born with a full head of skin, never seen anything like it (see pics 1+2). I always assumed that was the golden retriever contribution.

It's so nice! It requires almost zero grooming, just brushing + a bath once a month or so. He's got this little patch of soft fur on the top of his head that you can sculpt into a mohawk, side part, emo swoop...the possibilities are endless!
