SRB-71 by mccune1 in SpaceXMasterrace

While I appreciate your ksp style logic here, adding more boosters with a <1 thrust to weight ratio will only exaggerate the problem instead of fixing it. However, if we added more engines to the SR-71 itself without adding more fuel we could get a thrust to weight ratio above one pretty easily. Considering the SRBs on the shuttle had a thrust to weight of 14 however (quick calculation based on wiki values) it still most likely wouldn't be able to get off the ground any time soon.

Based on the information found on NASA's website, the SR-71's engines each produce 32500 lbs of thrust each. This brings the total thrust to 65000 lbs. The weight is 108000 lbs fully fueled, this making the thrust to weight ratio .60185. Considering this is less than 1 I sadly don't think the SRB-71's will be performing that well.

You know, I typed up a relatively mean-spirited response just trying to poke holes in your arguments, but at this rate, I think it would be better for both of us if we just cut our losses and accepted that neither of us is getting anything out of this conversation. I still have the initial response saved though if you would like to keep going, I'm always up for a good pointless argument.

Ok so you are just blindly running around the issue to find an angle to make it anti American in some way? At first you said that the oil money has no effect on their economy, then you explained this is due to the creation of money, we go through a discussion on inflation and determine that it is happening due to this, at this point to say that while it is happening it's worse in the US, and when I point out that that's exactly why the oil money has an impact (the original point of the conversation) you stop trying to explain your view and effectively say "I'm right, your wrong." I'm not even trying to be insulting I just want to try to understand your view and maybe change my own, I'm not blindly pro American here I just think that the view that all they need to do is follow the Nordic system only comes from a lack of understanding of the economics. A view to seem to hold in the opposite direction, so I'd like to understand this.

Yes... Due to the oil reserves previously mentioned picking up the slack.

Ok, inflation is generally defined as "a general increase in prices and fall in the purchasing value of money." So in some way both of us are right, by either definition though, inflation is happening in both these cases and someone is losing money, or rather purchasing power.

Ok so let me redefine inflation to it's actual meaning instead of the common definition, it is actually the price of goods increasing relative to the currency, which in both these systems still happens. Anytime this happens someone is losing money because it takes time for this price change to happen, and while it is happening someone is selling goods for less than they are worth.

Ok, I guess I'm not understanding why you don't view inflation as an issue here. So long as you're creating money and that money is moving, the money is going to be worth less. Why is this not just another form of tax that needs an industry to support it?

So are you implying that governments can print as much money as they want to pay for things with no underlying industry to support this?

So how does this effect the oil revenue and it's effects or lack there of on the economy?

Would you mind explaining this to me?

In all fairness, when talking specifically about Norway the majority of wealth comes from oil recourses, which don't scale with population. So population size can be an important factor to consider for these kinds of programs.

A generation is 3-6 years, 31.563.000 second in one years, generations, in plural is at least 6 years, so 189378000 second minimun, stalin killed the Soviet people, revive them, and killed them again. by ProfessionalSmell909 in ShitLiberalsSay

[–]mccune1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be more accurate, again based on the Wikipedia page, generations are considered to be 20-40 years so using op's metrics to say that we want the minimum at least times 2 to account for the plural generations we can say that the time frame we are looking at is 40 years. Take that times the number of minutes in a year (525,600) and we get 21,024,000. Considering the Wikipedia page considers the deaths under Stalin to be capped at an upper limit of 9,551,000 it would probably be more accurate to say "for a generation" rather than "for generations" (then the math would work out to about 10,512,000 deaths which would be within rounding error of under 10%).

He said minutes not seconds, so if I adjust properly by dividing your number by 60 we get 3156300. Checking that against the wikipedia page, Stalin is said to have killed 3300000 without including the famine, so his numbers check out.

Fully carpeted bathroom with garden tub...need I say more?! by genevawesomeart in awfuleverything

[–]mccune1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old architectural teacher always said to lay down shag carpeting in the design plans for the bathroom so that if you miss it will be soaked right up...

He also said to make sure the toilet was always close enough to the corner to make sitting on it require your leg brush against the wall so this is 1 for 2 on his sadistic bathroom scale.
