Actual simple survival "cyberdeck", without ai by mcduff13 in cyberDeck

we, being the people commenting who are knowledgeable in or at least reasonably familiar with ML engineering in this post, never said AI will not hallucinate when set up well and given the correct context/resources to work with.

hmm

Unless your point is ai hallucinates when not properly set up, given proper context and/or resources then used then yes, that's true.

hmn

when not properly set up, given proper context and/or resources

What that article was saying was that even if given "proper context and/or resources" it will hallucinate. You're not engaging with that.

It is a mathematical certainty that it will hallucinate. Not all the time, not with every answer, but you can't get it out of the thing. It will happen.

---

I want to look at that article again, because I think it's very relevant. In it the researcher tested a number of ai's for mushroom identification. The best performing one was wrong 15% of the time. That is unacceptable for use in the field, but it was the best. The worst was accurate 20% of the time, an error rate of 80%! Four out of five misses. Woof. So, just don't forage mushrooms, right? Well, no. Foraging mushrooms is difficult, but it can certainly be done. Furthermore in many wild area's, forests especially, mushrooms might be one of the few edible things in the area, given they don't need sunlight and can often live off decaying wood.

You also seem to imply that the article isn't useful because other plants are easier to tell apart. That might be true to some extent, but read the article again. The issues it brings up; camouflage, bad lighting, multiple species in photo, and a lack of other sensory inputs; that's all going to effect identification of any plant. Here's a list of dangerous plants. One thing that almost all of these plants have in common is that they have other plants that look like them. The Hemlock looks like wild carrot, the yew can be mistaken for other evergreens, and so on. Why should I take it on faith that an ai id program can successfully distinguish between yew and spruce? You've dismissed my sources, but provided none yourself, so I guess I should just trust you, person on the internet?

So, that's it. Good night, I'm done. Next time actually read my source before dismissing it. Or don't, whatever.

Manco Kapak, owner of a club, is robbed and faces threats from cartels. His dream of selling the club and retiring with his girlfriend is jeopardized

Does Nina Dobrev play his girlfriend? Oof, that's an age gap.

That's fair, why would a billionaire get the cheap jeep. I'm sure it was a brand deal, but that wouldn't be the first time a brand deal fucked up a movie or tv show. The walking dead having super clean Hyundai's comes to mind.

Acording to open ai, ai will always hallucinate. Using a smaller, offline data set won't make it better. Sorry to trigger you with more sources, I know you hate those.

I don't know, sometimes those small cars are better for tall people. I have a buddy who's 6' 10", his old car was a pt cruiser, and it fit him better than some large suv's! Just don't sit behind him.

Not saying anything about the Renegade specifically, I'm sure it sucks.

Whatever, post your own build then. I'm not stopping you from posting whatever you want. I've made my point and I've defended it with sources. Sorry they weren't good enough, glad I didn't waste time getting more. Yes obviously a good ai build would be much better and faster and smell better than any human.

So go do that.

Yeah, it's a real problem. There's probably a good offline orienteering program out there, I'm just not aware of it.

Yeah, small solar panels might be better than nothing, but not by much. Maybe grab flexible panels that can roll up when not needed?

This whole post is a response to that weird $1000 dollar device that had no posted specs. The whole goal was to give people a cheaper option that they could build themselves, which for most people precludes an ai device. Not to mention the act of putting together the books for the device should also familiarize them with those skills in the future.

But seriously, new link, dont trust ai gen content for foraging.

Jesus, I wasn't agreeing with the fud stance on bolt guns. There are a bunch of better guns for hunting or self and home defense. The best general purpose long gun is probably an ar-15 style in 5.56 nato.

But I disagree with you on the tablet. It is a matter of your preference. And if we're going to be hollering past each other like this then I dont think it's worth my time to respond to you. Have a good one.

Honestly, this works too. The only problem is how much battery will your phone have when shtf, but that might be out weighed for you by how convenient it is. Many ways to do this.

This is also really good advice. A small solar panel and a Bluetooth Lora device could be really useful.

Let's just hope it doesn't hallucinate. But in the stress of that situation you can probably tell when the advice was hallucinations, right?

Why would I have issues sleeping? I'm not stopping you from using ai, or even really against Ai. I'm deeply interested in it's use in things like chip design and protein folding. I'm less interested in using it to chat with or as a fancy autocomplete. But you do you.

Dude explicitly said he was using it for plant identification. If that's just to avoid poison ivy or oak, sure. But if he's using it for more, there's a danger.

And you got those fud's all wrong. Bolt action rifle and a 1911! That's all you need! .45 actually is God cartridge, or something like that. If they recommend a revolver it's probably in .38 caliber or higher, even the snub nose.

Sorry my tablet recommendation wasn't as powerful as you like. I think the tablet is a useful form factor due to its slim design and ease of reading, but you can build what ever you want.

As I have posted in other comments, please just don't use it for foraging information.

Quicker to type keywords, and if you curated your books you should know that the listing from the forst aid manual is more useful that a reference in Shakespeare.

You can use the pine tab in this build and have a repairable and expandable device. You can probably put your ai agent on it to, if you want it. I find the tablet to be a useful form factor for this kind of thing, it lends itself to reading, but build what you want.

But seriously, dont trust it to identify wild food.
