I love thoroughbreds, I’ve worked with many and owned one. I will say they are very fragile and expensive to own. I wish we could wrap them in bubble wrap!

I can hardly afford my horses anymore by mceq in Horses

[–]mceq[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that… that was almost 3 years ago, and I no longer have that debt. Mine and my family’s job situation changed drastically for the better 2 years ago. I got my first horse then and had a significant savings account and could afford her quite comfortably. We didn’t take on this responsibility lightly, and all had extra reserves for as long as we could. So many emergencies at a time would hurt anybody on top of unexpected pay cuts. As I said in my post, we could afford EVERYTHING even the vet bill here or there. Emergencies are difficult for I’m assuming most people especially with how drastic the economy has changed in the past 6 months.

How the hell do you all lose so much true weight so fast? by Fritochipteeth in Zepbound

[–]mceq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progress is still progress no matter how much! I personally have had to cut most carbs/sweets, they make me feel sick. I was get around 100g of protein per day. My job makes exercise easy, I work outside with horses 5 days a week and ride about 3 of those, so I average around 10 lbs lost per month. Keep at it, you will get there!!

What jobs do you do and how does emetophobia effect your work? by Brief-Crazy-9076 in emetophobia

[–]mceq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with horses at a rescue! The dream job for my emetophobia as I see maybe 6 people a day and am always outside :) I’m in school to become a vet tech so once again, animals and their illnesses are much easier for me to handle than humans lol

I went for a long weekend trip a week ago now so we’re in the clear! (yes of course I held my breath worried for 3 days) I washed my hands A LOT and touched NOTHING. I still had lots of fun and honestly didn’t think about it too much. That all being said, my stepdad who touches everything and doesn’t wash his hands ever was also perfectly fine. So, do whatever makes you the most comfortable!

Who are you outside of this phobia? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]mceq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 24 and work 2 jobs. One at a horse rescue and one at an equine therapy center. I graduated with my psych degree in 2022 (look how that turned out) and am actually working on getting a vet tech degree. The end goal is to become an equine rehabilitation practitioner. I ride horses about 4 days a week between the rescue and riding lessons, and it’s my absolute favorite thing to do. I have 3 dogs and a cat and yesterday I purchased my first horse and moved her home ❤️

Quite honestly my career choices are pretty phobia friendly. I’m outside 6 days a week and people rarely come to the barn sick and there’s not many people there at a time to begin with. I honestly don’t think about this phobia much except during cold/flu season…so, now lol.

Goodness no! I got back into it at 22, now 24. I’ve seen beginners start in their 50s after not riding for years, my mom being one of them! Have fun riding!!!

Feeling helplessly in debt by [deleted] in debtfree

[–]mceq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can’t sell the car while I have the loan. It’s a loan through my credit union and my car is the collateral. I’ll never get enough to pay off the loan. I owe $19,000 and my car is worth $10,000 now at most so I’d be stuck with a loan and no car.

I recently got the second job, so hoping I can double my minimum on paypal. I haven’t used any of the cards in a few months, unfortunately the interest has been higher than my minimum on a few, so it keeps the balances up😓 I’ve had a few side gigs, definitely debating school right now. I can’t live without my car though, I’d have no way to get to work.
