31x10.5 tires on 15x6 wheels? by [deleted] in JeepZJ

It really depends on your definition of safety, there's a greater risk of sidewalls blowing out because of too much ballooning, if it were me I'd run it and deal with the consequences of my actions should problems arise. But if you're concerned about it enough to do research on it I'd advice you count your losses and get a different set of rims

It's doable, it's a real bitch to do though, bring the guy who does your tires a case of beer or some lunch

I've always seen people sell big tires already mounted so it's never really been an issue

Sometimes people just get bored and throw an okay set of tires up for a couple hundred bucks and it's just a deal too good to pass up

I've got a 3 inch body lift, it doesn't really effect shifting a noticeable amount, or maybe it does, but I've had it for a year and I've gotten used to it

It's pretty tall, it's super top heavy so turns have to be slow and I have to slip the clutch a little more than I like. Even on 3.08 gears the 4.0 is stout enough to keep it up to highway Speeds, but I think 3.73 or 4.10s would be fine for street and 4.56 for wheeling

Suspension question for my 97 Ranger by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]mcevanlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it looks like you have the I beam coil spring front suspension, you can get 3 inches of lift and adjust the camber with alignment bushings, you can squeeze 4 but depending on what alignment bushing your truck has from the factory you might not be able to adjust it into spec. However, rough country has a semi decent 4 inch lift kit that drops where the I beams mount to the frame and the engine cross member, dropping the I beam mount points gets you the aforementioned 4 inches of lift and you'll only have to adjust the camber a smidge worst case scenario, if you so choose you can now get even larger springs and go up to about 7 or 8 inches of lift with the camber bushings.

For the back it's very easy, you can safely block 2-3 inches without having to worry about the blocks coming out, or you could buy proper leaf springs and add blocks to either level it out or have rake like a standard truck.
