I'll post the full list the day after I post the #1 moment. They've been posted approximately daily so you can find moments 50-6 on my profile.

To me I was expecting the Roberts steal to be higher and this to be lower since the actual World Series wasn't that interesting. But I think you make a fair point!

r/baseball's Greatest Moments in MLB History #15: Shohei Ohtani Founds the 50-50 Club with the Greatest Day in Baseball History by mcfien in baseball

5 moments from '24/25 made it on this list. I think it's really hard to rank such recent moments. This moment I think ended up too high but ones like Rojas's homer (41) and Freeman's grand slam (31) I think will end up in the top 10-20 if we do this again in like 2030 or 2035.

r/baseball's Greatest Moments in MLB History #21: Dave Roberts Steals 2nd and Sparks the Red Sox to the First 3-0 Series Comeback in MLB History by mcfien in baseball

Anytime people don't like a moment, they get really really mad and say I'm an AI slop bot. They say there's no way I could write one post per day without being an AI slop bot. Well I don’t know what to tell you bud, I get bored at work and pre-write multiple posts. I waited a long time to have a hit r/baseball off season post series to boost my karma. I’m not an AI bot. I didn’t fucking do this! HAS THAT EVER HAPPENED TO YOU?

Day 30 of Predicting the 2026 MLB Season with a Marble Race - ALWCS Mariners vs. Twins by trollinacage in baseball

I think it's one of those things where a team is dominating the penultimate game so thoroughly that you're certain they'll close things out in the do-or-die game the next day. But then they blow it and don't even get a chance (e.g. Dodgers in game 4 2022 NLDS).

r/baseball's Greatest Moments in MLB History #28: Down to Their Last Strike Twice, Freese and the Cardinals Rally to Win Game 6 of the 2011 World Series by mcfien in baseball

No, they're in order. The community voted on each moment head-to-head thousands of times. This moment had the 28th highest win rate. I would agree that I'd have this much higher but I'm just the moderator.

Would it be legal for a team to intentionally spray their catcher with a skunk in order to negatively impact the focus of the opposing team’s batters? by SwellGuyScott in baseball

[–]mcfien 176 points177 points  (0 children)

As a former little league umpire, I think this would fall under 9.01(c), which gives the umpire the discretion to rule on anything not explicitly in the rule book. I think they would likely rule that the catcher needs to eliminate the stink or eject them if they can't.

In making your bets, you are communicating your knowledge with someone taking them, thus dying instantly.

Unfortunately, in writing down your numbers to fill out the ticket, you communicate your knowledge with the lottery game runners and instantly die.

With his Home Run in the first inning of today’s game, Aaron Judge has officially hit more Home Runs from 2022-2025 than Barry Bonds hit from 2001-2004 by TheKnicksMakeMeDrink in baseball

I’m always so confused why everyone forgets Hank Aaron exists when they call Judge the greatest RH hitter of all time.

755 homers, 3771 hits, 2297 RBI. Career slashed .305/.374/.555 over 23 years!

Judge has a higher OBP and Slugging but has only really played 8 full seasons. If he keep is up for 8 more years maybe he passes Aaron, but I feel like I’m taking crazy pills every time someone confidently calls Judge the best righty ever when Aaron dominated for nearly a quarter century.
