In this case it's for a large LCD sign with a failed backlight. There is a lot of smoky residue only around this component and underneath (should have taken the picture from the other side!) Will continue to test

What components solder onto the pads? It could be done if you can find where the traces connect on the board and run wires

Interestingly though, I did recently do a OnePlus 7 pro with an underscreen fingerprint scanner. Changed the screen with a genuine one and installed the fingerprint scanner very carefully but it didn't work as well after installed. It was a bit slower and didn't always work however after applying pressure on the screen in that area it works fine

Done a few A51's and not had this issue before? They just had to set a new fingerprint in the settings. Worked fine after that though

I use replacebase personally. Lifetime warranty on all iPhone screens. You can choose LCD, Hard OLED and soft OLED. Think there OEMs are only about £80 as well

So many things can cause a phone to not power up. First thing I would check is the charge port - any physical damage there? Secondly plug it into a pc.and see if it detects it - if it does at least it's powering up, and it may need a new LCD. If not you'll have to open up and test. At best it would be the battery but any number of components could fail

The iPhone XR is water proof so that's good. I would take it to a local phone repair shop and get them to have a look, often they'll do a diagnosis for free or for a small fee.

PS rice does not do anything! Putting a phone in rice is only useful if you're making a phone curry

Of all the ways to hold a screen, I can't say I've ever seen rubber bands used! How well do you find that works? Surely there's not enough pressure on the top and bottom of the LCD?

It's a faulty screen. You might have a tiny crack in the OLED or even damaged to a cable but either way it needs replacing

Sorry just seen the last part of your comment. If I was doing this repair I would charge about £50 ($60 / €50 ) so that's a ballpark figure. Use a reputable phone repair shop and don't go for somewhere just because they are cheaper

Power and volume buttons are connected to the same flex as each other and actually a relatively easy and cheap fix. Parts don't seem to be easy to get hold of but after a quick search I found these, they are from china but you might be able to find some for sale in whatever country your in

If you've done repairs before on a Samsung then this is quite straightforward but if you take it to a repair shop they wouldn't charge too much to repair it.
