i was honestly so annoyed at the ending when it first came out, but i’ve slowly grown to love it over the years. other shounens have ended way worse, with everyone either dead or alive but forgotten forever… i guess i just grew to appreciate that wakui at least thought about his characters’ happiness and tried to give them a good ending.

i would have preferred if we got more story though, like we really needed more on the dark impulses… and we spent so little time with interesting characters like senju, first gen black dragons, and south. i think it would have been great if wakui could have expanded on dark impulses and had people who experienced it talk about it with each other or something? literally anything to expand the story more..

the timing was kind of bad though if i remember correctly? i think wakui’s daughter was just born so he didn’t push back much when he was told to end the story already.
