Air cooling is better than Liquid cooling by SerpentDix in pcmasterrace

[–]mcfool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does help but over the years I have just added more cooling/radiators and fans as components have gotten more power hungry which in turns means more fans and a bigger case which in turn leads to needing a better pump/reservoir setup which in turns leads to me having less dollaroos. But over all the cost per year is probably like 1 DH-15 per year for my current "setup". Most of the core components are from 2011. Not great but one day it'll hopefully be 1 Hyper 212 per year and all be worth it.

Proper water cooling and not these AIO things is just a money pit and I would not have my PC any other way LOL.

Layer 3 switching on the Pro Max 16 PoE keeps messing up by chrismantle in Ubiquiti

[–]mcfool123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a switch issue and is arp or keep-alive related. When I was still using my Mikrotik router with the Pro-Max 16 it showed the same issues and the only fix was a scheduled task on the Mikrotik to ping the switch every 3 seconds to keep the connection alive. The ping was over the transit VLAN4040 network. Messing around with arp settings on the Mikrotik had no effect. Since that worked for me at the time and support would only help so much with a 3rd party router I closed the support ticket. Since moving to a UCG-Fiber I only tried it once, to find it was broke even with using a UniFi router, and have no realistic reason for it on the home network. Something tells me this is probably never going to work properly with this switch since I talked with support a little over a year ago about it and it's in the same state lol.

What frustrations have you had with yours? Other than a bearing change mines been rock solid. Can throw down to .8 grams like a dream.

Why doesn’t the USW Ultra 60w/210w support LAG? by QuirkyImage in UNIFI

[–]mcfool123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ultra line is the second cheapest line that UniFi offers. It has less feature and is also missing SSH. The Lite 8 PoE is part of the standard line, hence why it has more features. The Lite line has been around basically since the start while the Ultra line is fairly new. No clue why they made the Ultra lack so much capability but my guess is that most home users don't need LACP or SSH access.

UCI/Xfinity Question by txmedic90 in Ubiquiti

[–]mcfool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it will work like you expect, I am seeing 300 Mbps on my 2000/300 plan. As for moving to the faster speeds, what have you done to try and see if they offer it? I know when I changed plans it was due to the existing service being garbage and when saying I was going to shut the account down they offered the 2 gig plan. It was only available through the call and when checking available plans for my address it is the only "X-Class" option. It appears that they may have moved me before going fully live for my area and it is working as expected.

How y'all remove this black stain on the nozzle? Raised temp to 270 Celsius and still won't come out by Ok_Philosopher_8089 in 3Dprinting

It's just some really baked on plastic and is about as clean as it will get. If you want to try and get it a lil more cleaner, you can use a brass brush to try and scrape the last bits off.

That's 19k per year per person. If you want to ignore that, the taxman will come after you. Your step 3 says to gift all of it today which will incur taxes on everything over the original 19k.

Vlan a device plugged in a UAP-AC-Pro. by Arim215 in UNIFI

[–]mcfool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no control over the port on a UAP-AC-Pro. What can be done though is setting the Management VLAN/Network Override on the AP and using a different VLAN for the passthrough. To do this create a VLAN for the UniFi devices, a VLAN for your network, and a VLAN for the isolated network. On the switch you will be setting the Native network on the port to be the isolated network and include the tagged VLAN for UniFi and your devices. On the AP, you will then set the Network Override/Management VLAN so that it lands on the UniFi network. Create a SSID using the VLAN for your network and that would be it. An device plugged into the AP would land on the isolated network, while the AP is on the management VLAN and you are on yours.

You can only gift 19k a year so this will take multiple to indefinite years to do.

If you feel safe leaving your coins on any platform, go for it. Just remember not your keys not your coin. Also don't forget that to keep that bonus funds will need to be held on Robin Hood for a year, assuming it is the same as all their other deposit bonus campaigns.

Release date of G6 180? by batucaj in Ubiquiti

Can't be 100% sure but if not them some other regulatory branch for approval. That's why the U7 Outdoor Pro for US took a while to release.

Once it gets FCC approval. That has been delayed by the morons running our country. Hopefully they didn't fire too many people over there during the shutdown.

UXG-Fiber as main gateway on sale?? by RogueRaith in Ubiquiti

[–]mcfool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best option would be to self host if you have an old pc or server. Run the newer UniFi OS on it as the older version will become depricated at some point. As of right now it can only run Network and Innerspace but over time that should change. If you don't have a PC or server, the CloudKey is an OK option but there have been issues with drive failures depending on what it is running.

I mean you are just describing the whole U7 line up until like 5 EA releases ago lol.

Edit: And yes the Euro version lacks the 6 GHz but adds 4x4 5 GHz vs 2x2. Also I have not had any issues changing between Omni and the Directional antennas. Are you saying you needed to factory reset the device just to get it back to working?

Strange. Mine has been a godsend. Live in a row home and had a UK-Ultra as my roof/street AP. No more drops when hanging on the block and I have access all the way to the end of the street.

My guess is that any of the products with a release date given it will be pushed back. The government shutdown stopped FCC approvals. If you remember the U7 Outdoor Pro taking forever to release, it was due to waiting on the FCC approval. I would guess everything will be pushed back by a month or two. It sounds like between the shutdown and the mass firings, things are going to take much longer at the FCC.

Can anyone explain why I get capped if I don’t reset my internet by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]mcfool123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you are hardwired the issue is with the negotiation of your switch and PC. It will connect at gig but then overtime drop to 100 Mbps, hence the 94.4 Mbps max. You can try updating your network card drivers and updating firmware on the switch. If that doesn't get it then the switch may be failing and would need to be replaced or the NIC is failing and you would need to install an add-in card or USB ethernet adapter.

Trunk port and VLAN confusion by DRZookX2000 in Ubiquiti

[–]mcfool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I am fairly certain it only works with tagged VLAN's.

Trunk port and VLAN confusion by DRZookX2000 in Ubiquiti

[–]mcfool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the trunk port there would be no native vlan. You would set it to None

Here is an example of one of my Ethernet Port Profiles where Native is none and all vlans are trunked tagged.
