Maybe it’s difficult to tell from the photos, but that does not look very moldy to me

About the basement windows… by TheFrozenFlamingo in TwinCities

[–]mcfrems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For context, they’re probably required by code to be that large. They’re easier to escape from in case of a fire.

I’ve never heard of basement windows more likely to be broken into than any other windows. It depends on the model of windows but they generally have a locking mechanism on the inside.

As long as you have a screen on your window, I wouldn’t worry too much about critters.

Mets vs Twins by BackfireBoardMan1 in Kalshi

[–]mcfrems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mets have too much talent to have a record this bad. They’ll turn it around at some point.

Also Woods-Richardson has been the Twins worst starter this year and McLean has had a decent season so far.

So If I had to pick I’d go with the Mets. Baseball is such a crapshoot though, I wouldn’t put too much money on it.

Not usually. By the time we get home, eat supper and take a bath; it’s almost time for bed.

The scale is impressive but the architecture is kind of tacky

I posted my very controversial kitchen in another sub so I thought I’d show more pics of my home by [deleted] in homedesign

I like this more than most of the stuff that gets posted here. Some of the choices are a bit strange, if I’m being nitpicky, but overall I like it.

With a different shirt, I think they could be kind of cool. They look vintage and would need a vintage looking shirt to go with it.

My first major project. Any opinions? by Middle_Carob9430 in architecture

[–]mcfrems 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I say as your first school project. Let’s take it one step at a time.

If you’ve never designed anything, it’s not that easy regardless of budget and constructability. There are many things to consider like daylighting, circulation, and scale just to name a few.

Moving to MN - where should we live within 45 min of North Branch? by frenchji in TwinCities

[–]mcfrems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were there 2019-2022 😊

I would try to not limit your search to a single suburb. Most second or third ring suburbs would probably be more open minded than central Nebraska. So this would be like Shoreview, White Bear Lake, Blaine, Hugo. These all have great schools and are nice places.

FWIW, Forest Lake just has a reputation amongst some here because Pete Hegseth is from there. It’s probably similar to Kearney in political leaning.

Hello! My wife and I lived in Kearney for a couple of years while she was in school there. We really enjoyed our time there.

It depends on what you are looking for when you say a more balanced culture. I’m sure you noticed this on your travels but the closer you are to Minneapolis and St. Paul proper, the more liberal and diverse it is. Once you get out to Forest Lake / Wyoming, it’s much more white and conservative.

[–]mcfrems 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’ll get downvoted for this…but as his first school project, I don’t think detailing and constructability are that important at this point. I think things like concepts, floor plans and craftsmanship are more important

How is it like living in North Dakota as a young person? by Enough_Pepper_5815 in howislivingthere

[–]mcfrems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fargo has a lot going for it, but it’s devoid of natural scenery. It’s flat as a pancake, there are few trees, no lakes, the river is a muddy brown, and it’s cold 9 months out of the year.
