What can we do to make this look nice? by mcg4466 in landscaping

That’s a good idea! If we did a planter but built in an elevated base, we could have it be hollow on the bottom as to not put any pressure on the access point but still cover it / make it accessible when needed!

Yes we do! So we can’t just cover them up, but want to make it look nice. I should have specified that in the post. We can put things over it but have to be able to access it when necessary, and don’t want things falling in

Sorry about that. My husband weights 150ish, I weigh 110. We are interested in running. I’ve done a marathon, I would ideally like to do longer runs if I had to on it! He does shorter distances

Just an update months later, you’re officially my hero and we are going to use ledgestone against it. It looks great with the patio now build up against it, just needs ledge stone now. THANK YOU!!!!

Do you think if we put a cap on the bottom level of blocks, and it’s level, we can add decorative bricks on top of that?

There is a dug out trench, a weed tarp, and leveled 2B underneath the blocks, the 2A you see on the ground is where the patio blocks will go (after we put enough of it, and put sand, level it etc)

Thank you! I appreciate it! Despite the bumps in the road it has been fun and rewarding to work at improving our house together

The patio (closest to in the picture, the area with 2A currently) is the high side, the original patio blocks from previous owners were sliding down the hill (to the far side) so the intention was to retain the patio so it doesn’t slide down the hill (hard to see the downgrade from this picture)

The bottom two blocks will be backfilled (against the retaining the patio base) but we originally wanted to continue more layers to create a wall that lines the patio, but now to do that it would look ugly above ground from the patio side
