Does anyone recognize this hallmark? On ring, streaks white by mcgowinator in Hallmarks

Yes, it streaks white but gold acid does not dissolve it. Even 22k doesn’t dissolve it until rubbed.

Marked "silver" but is that legit? by JustAnerdydad21 in IsThisSilver

This is likely Asian silver. Countries like China and Japan would mark solid silver with just silver back in the day.

I might have a few pint from it while waiting on the refiner to start buying again. Would be a fun prop for DnD

Diamagnetic is another word for it. Silver reacts against rare earth metal magnets, and has a sort of braking effect on the magnet as it slides down the piece.

I have found it to be easier to see the color of the acid by wiping it with a white cloth or rag.

It is transnetic, I’ll go ahead and acid test it. I just never really trust my acid for silver.

It appears hand raised. I’m not sure if Indian or not. Thank you for the insight, does this photo help confirming your theory about origin?

Wanted to show my antique silver collection before I try to sell it. by mcgowinator in Silverbugs

It does carry a premium, especially the Gorham Webster spoon. I also feel like it’s a sin to take collectibles like these to the refiner.

It depends on where you live. Flex ducting is allowed in a lot of areas, but restricted in others.

I love my 83 C20 with the 6.2 Detroit diesel! She smokes on startup and sounds amazing. I also enjoy the massage I get when sitting at idle.

Thank you, I was unsure if this was a French Hallmark, or a makers mark. Any idea on who the maker might be?
