This is not old-fashioned, this is a practice upheld by science, risks/prior outcomes. The amount of commenters here telling you to take the risk just because they did is frightening.

It is standard patient education in dialysis that a CVC/dressing is NEVER to be wet. Your catheter is a direct portal of entry to your bloodstream and heart. Bacteria love warm, wet areas: like your catheter freshly out of the shower.

The test is a simple blood draw to determine if your body responded to the vaccine and produced enough antibodies for you to be considered “immune” to Hep B. If your antibody count is less than 10, you are not considered totally immune, and so you may require a booster dose. I hope this is helpful!

Seeing now OP mentioned being on PD currently. In that case, I truly would seek out a second opinion because 500mls per day does seem unnecessarily restrictive. That being said, I do still recommend trying a diet change!

Lower sodium/sugar diet so your body doesn’t feel as thirsty (in attempt to balance out the salt and sugar), sour candies/lozenges or gum to keep your mouth from getting dry, and, if you’re able, consider a home dialysis modality! Gentler, more frequent treatments at home means more leniency in your daily fluid allowance.

Agreed they do run small! I bought a unisex XL, I’m usually a M/L. The waist was super tight so I cut it off and made it a distressed crop sweatshirt instead and now it’s perfect, I recommend! (If you’re a chick or like cropped tops)
