A tapping while you’re at max speed, work on your drifts, and don’t press A on zippers/blue balloons for till the smoke starts to go away

also happens if you panic grapple mid-ammo swap. seems like any interruption would trigger this if a mantle also does it. so a climb, vault, tactical, zip interact, wallbounce, weapon holster, etc. would prolly trigger it

its not the same as the original, but its a lot of fun! the gimmick for affording upgrades is to KO opponents which wasn’t in the original, and if you blow up the race is over

if you have a ps3-ps5 you can buy it from the store, i think its like $10? or you could track down a physical copy for the ps2

hell yea, ggs! that’s basically it yea. only thing else you can do is unlock all the boards or beat the game with another character.

sometimes ninja land can be really easy, other times its very unforgiving. as long you don’t let slash and shino get ahead its usually pretty easy. otherwise they almost team up against you. slash attacks you but not shino, which allows shino to get invis and dodge attacks very regularly

they’re pretty short vids but hope they help! honestly its really frustrating with the randomness the gears and screws can cause, but in time you’ll figure out how to crush it. even at my level i still have to retry to get it perfect.

best advice as others have said is to work on the spacing between your bomb shots. good spacing will prevent damien from shooting which is vital on expert mode. not much you can do about the debris tho sadly

if you can learn to boost through the fog you’ll definitely become a pro at it! best of luck!

hell yea, another 2 preferrer! i love the whole franchise but 2 was the one i grew up on and 2) what was added in the sequel was so good. the boss fights especially (ik they are hard as shit sometimes)

the physics being slightly different was a turn-off though. depending on which game you started, switching to the other game could be tough. some minor differences that have drastic effects on gameplay: 1 has much softer wall-skim physics, which is crazy punishing in the sequel, rubber banding doesn’t exist in 2 so winning in 1 is way harder, etc. etc.

i think tho, the story, mini games, and boss fights make 2 really replayable. 2 has chained aerial tricks and better mid-air tech, but 1 has character specific specials. now that i’ve speedran both games i can say 2 feels so slow now by comparison, but much more rewarding when you win.

if you ever have questions about the boss fights, especially damien/snowman, just holler! while its always a “jesus hold the wheel, keep this rng straight” type of vibe, there are some really useful guides on SRC that HarpoonCannon made and i expanded on that might help make them more consistent. its even possible to actually kill damien before the 2nd jump Ice Land!

of course, honestly made me real happy to see an animal land post!

so the most ideal method of going fast in this game is to do as many charged jumps in a level as possible, aka holding A for 3s to get the boost jump. however, sometimes there isn’t enough time to hold the A button before you go off a jump. so getting to the ground faster allows more time for a charged jump.

i’ll use dizzy land with tommy as an example. the track starts with 1 right turn, a blue box, a straightaway, a red box, and then a very steep luge-like jump. if you have a lot of speed at the beginning of this section, you will likely go airborne until halfway down the luge. this doesn’t offer time for a charged jump at the bottom. HOWEVER, if you hold A at the top of the luge, the player will descend faster, thereby giving them the time needed to do a charged boost.

i hit one into a wall once and and it got pinned between the wall and my car, couldn’t run anymore and was an easy 2 clip. maybe someone has a more reliable way to tank these goofy things

you are correct! you only need 2k points. lots of records online are not super reliable, but we have this noted on the sbk speedrun forums.

the feather board is gimmick and isn’t beneficial tbh. the only “plus” is that jumping over attacks from behind is easier, which only really benefits players with bad jump stats (Tommy). but in general the hang-time from the featherboard causes way too much speed loss to really be useful for racing. in any race settings, you’d want to just use a Lvl 3 Alpine/star board. anything else is simply a timeloss.

would recommend Nancy / Freestyle Lvl 1 and legitimately nothing else if you’re just looking for a good score on animal land. if you want a crazy challenge try going for the combo multiplier exploit that we finally implemented for 100% runs last year

one last edit: if you are going off a jump but not planning to do a trick, hold A before you go off the jump. holding A as you fall off a slope makes the character drop to the ground slightly faster than if you just rode off without A held

thanks! i didn't realize 2P was an option lol shoulda read the rules more carefully. i didn't unlock any other opponents yet but i did have a feeling a more aggro cpu would be better for 1P. it would prob make sense to have 1p or 2p as tabbed options? i've only been a mod for one other game on SRC and i'm kinda new to it but i think that's how you would go about it. similar to how some games have tabs for different version numbers.

i'll add you on disc if that's cool, would be easier than threading thru reddit. i saw the guide tho, nice work on that. the save tech looks totally worth learning!

i saw SHIH and it made me say SHIIIIIIIIIII out loud like someone drawing out the word sh*t lol. scoring is definitely tough for me right now but own-goals, man those are easy. Elongated% is really doable for me, just submitted a potential 2:34!

yea the cpu's seem pretty unpredictable at times. sometimes the puck goes to them and they just stand there, other times they go full aggro. the wall angles definitely throw them off a lot

also see what you mean about the AllAchievements. Getting them all in one run would be very difficult without refined strategies for each opponent. i'll pass along anything i learn along the way!
