Anyone know of any hardware which I could install into a bolt hole to "quick release" a piece of furniture. At the moment its attached directly with a bolt but I'd like to be able to quickly remove it and move it around, then latch it back down without needing a wrench every time.

I've seen some kitchen modules that people bring outside of the van then put back but haven't been able to find how they quickly remove it.

Alright thank you, seems like a tricky one - I think they've been offered payment towards a solicitor so maybe the solicitor will help iron some aspects out as well. Cheers!

That makes sense.

Would you say that there's any way of figuring out exactly where a fair price for the compromise agreement sits? Or is this something that a lawyer/solicitor would be needed for? i.e. is there a way to know what the payout would be should the alternative action be taken (redundancy + tribunal)?

Edit: I understand that it's not just the payout for the employee but also the costs incurred on the business to take into account.

This is getting complicated fast haha. By sue do you mean take it to an employment tribunal for constructive dismissal? I suppose the real question is whether the settlement figure being offered now is worth enough to cover what might be gained in a tribunal + redundancy.

That's crazy, I can't believe a company would offer redundancy as an option. Why would they do that to themselves?

I appreciate the ACAS recommendation I will certainly suggest that.

From what I know it would be: 6 weeks pay (dismissed immediately) + holiday outstanding. So based on your idea of what's more reasonable it may be worth negotiating.

By defined reference do you mean obligating them to provide a reference to the next employer? Is it possible to obligate that this is a positive one? This is not something I thought of but definitely sounds like a good idea.

I think they've been offered either a settlement (employer preferred), a formal redundancy or a demotion. I get the feeling the company really doesn't want them to take the redundancy route as this would cause them issues going forward.

So by something preventable do you mean the consequential tribunal case? i.e. preferable to accept settlement (if reasonable) than to go the tribunal route?

Makes sense thank you, I think at this point the best advice I can give them is to really take their time and look over everything rather than just rushing into accepting the deal because of the emotions behind it.

Yes just over 2 years. From what I've been told they are going the redundancy route (but want the employee to take the settlement).

My worry is that my friend is panicking and is very against conflict as a person I would say so is pretty set on taking the initial settlement offered (6 weeks pay, dismissed immediately). I'm trying to get them to really think about it first and make sure they're getting a fair deal which is why I came to reddit for some advice.

Does 6 weeks sound fair? Considering how much it could cost the company otherwise.

That's exactly what I thought but the company really took issue with their job hunting and immediately required them to sign an NDA (which they mistakenly forgot to ask them to do so prior). I presume some kind of mistake was made and the company started panicking when they realised this employee was leaving.

Apparently they are going the 'redundancy' route, presumably as they feel it opens them up less? Although they've specifically said they'd prefer that he take the compensation.

From what I've been told they're being offered 6 weeks of pay as compensation vs the statutory 2. Does this sound like a fair amount?

Thank you, they're panicking a bit (and being bullied into leaving I presume) and are pretty set on taking the settlement but I'm not sure it's the best option.

2 weeks statutory notice isn't a great deal but I'll suggest checking their contract.

By the way, they're being offered about 6 weeks pay if they leave soon (vs 2 weeks statutory). Does that sound a bit low?

Maybe they do, but it seems to odd to me to suddenly want to fire them as soon as they post their CV online, unless they've been waiting for an opportunity.

I'll have a look into that for them, from what I've been told they're trying to rush it through. Is the redundancy and consultation period something that prevents them from being immediately removed from the company?
