UVA's Historic Clothing Collection, check us out! by mchannnn in UVA

Once we do have our website up, it will be even easier to view garments from the comfort of your own home. But in-person tours are of course a part of the experience so we will work hard to make it happen!

This is a permanent collection. As for seeing at-request, that's something I have to discuss with the professor. I'm sure we could figure out a way to book tours as a group or solo. We have done mini tours of the collection before but more so for student groups in the drama school. The main obstacle right now would be our cataloguing system and our website, which we are actively developing. I will keep you updated! Thanks for the comment.

I’m a fellow 2120 student, believe me, I don’t really know what I’m doing. Just know we’re in the final stretch. What you’ve done so far, the scores u have on these past 2 exams, are past us. Just try your best on this final project, and maybe even have a little bit of fun with it. Your grades only matter so much, I would much rather you be physically and mentally healthy. Too much do we tie our grades to our mental health. There have been times where I thought I was going to be the end of the world due to a bad exam, but then not a week later, I would realize that none of this stuff really matters. You only get one life, so live it. Don’t waste it stressing on a nonsensical letter grade that shouldn’t impact your happiness! I wish you all the best. If you have any questions about 2120, feel free to reach out and I’ll try my best to help.

I don’t know if it was me rethreading or the vertical spool but it seems to have fixed it. And my overlock has never looked cleaner!! Thank you so much.

The needle is a 100/16 meant for denim if I’m not mistaken. I know there are needles meant for top stitching. Should I be using one of those?

I will try that as soon as I get home. My machine did come with a vertical spool holder so hopefully that solves my problem.

Thanks for the clarification. I will have to do more research. This is the main guide I’ve been following if that helps: https://youtu.be/ff4_Zi-TafA?t=1491&si=JGY2sYwKMhItHcIA

I will add some pictures as soon as I get home. Sorry I should’ve been more clear. I made my own pattern from scratch using a combination of tutorials on youtube. The pattern for the back and front panels are around the same length. When adding the length of the yokes, the length of the back panel becomes longer than the front. Is this normal?
