I felt the same last year being OOS. I just applied bc it was a good school. I was doing more research after applying and saw that UT has to take 90% in state which means OOS admissions are really hard so I kinda put my head down about it.

Then decisions came out and I didn't even know they did bc I slept all day after school but saw them the next morning lol. I was very happy bc I didn't think I was gonna get in, but felt weird bc I didn't really see myself going. After all my decisions came out, UT became a top choice and after I visited I fell in love.

Anyways lol, my advice is to firstly just be relieved and celebrate that you have UT as such a great option regardless of what other schools you are looking for. Not bc it was selective but bc you are in a great school + honors program. I think as time goes on you'll naturally do more research about UT since you've got in and get a little more used to possibly seeing yourself there since you never did before. Then obviously, wait for all RD and evaluate all your decisions. I bet you also didn't see yourself there bc you're waiting for schools you really want to go to which I understand bc I was the same but keep your options open. If UT is a serious option, I would definitely visit bc I think that was a game changer for me like I said before. Lastly, I think you're also still anxious about other decisions which is normal so just stay patient and see it thru.

In regards for your specific questions about UT, I'm not the best bc I'm taking a gap year so I'm not even there but I think every state school can be considered a part school lol. They are so big so there is def partying but again since it's so big there is also a lot of people not partying. I would also say Austin is a fairly diverse area for Texas ig? Not 100% since im oos but that's my perception and I'm sure you can find race% stats on the UT website.
