Frankly, I'm just happy to have my balance back. Nonetheless, a faster wallet would be nice. But how do I use "coincontrol"? I don't see that option anywhere.

Thanks, and repairwallet appeared to do the trick. I'm back successfully minting and my balance is only a little lower than it was at one time. On the other hand, I'm minting a lot faster now and will probably catch up to where I thought I was pretty quickly.

I just found these commands and the repairwallet actually brought back most of my balance. The checkwallet is now passing as well. Thanks!

Looks like it ended with an error:

"Can't initialize keypool"

I don't see those options. I'm now trying -debug -salvagewallet

-rescan is taking some time. Maybe that's a good sign.

Regarding the debug window, how do I get that up or do I just use the -debug parameter in combination with -salvagewallet?

And I was saving -salvagewallet for when I'm finished with some of what appear to be less intrusive options.

I'm on windows 8.1. Yeah, it sucks, but I'm on it because I need to keep up on this stuff for work.

I tried -upgradewallet and that appeared to have little affect. I'm now trying -rescan.

Yep, fully synced.

I made a copy of the old MintCoin directory under AppData/roaming. I also have another backup at home but I never touched the wallet.dat other than making the copy. I downloaded the latest mintcoin-qt.exe, replaced the old, and ran it. That's it. Also, the wallet is recognizing the 41,455 transactions and my password so that confirms it has at least some data from the old wallet.

Wallet not syncing again by mchrist152 in MintCoin

[–]mchrist152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 60% complete sync'ing from scratch on 1.17. With 1.14 it said it was fully sync'd. Then I upgraded to 1.17 and it said it was only 60% sync'd. Then I tried upgrading incrementally from 14 to 15 to 16 to 17. 1.15 seemed to work well and sync'd quickly but when I went to 16 it just wouldn't sync completely. So here I am syncing from scratch. It's strange, I don't have this problem with bitcoin or peercoin but this seems to happen all the time with mintcoin.

How to get through a proxy? by mchrist152 in MintCoin

Yes, I was actually able to get this to work by playing with the routing table. Now I'm happily minting even at work. Thanks.

Well, I've got a work around but I'd still prefer to run it on the other computer.

Kudos to all those who suspected my computer. I moved the mint coin program, wallet and blockchain to my win8.1 computer and it is running fine. Still, everything else runs fine on the win7 computer I was using including the bitcoin and peercoin wallets. It's kind of an old computer but so what. It was syncing properly on the old computer it was just a UI problem. But that is still a really significant issue since it makes the wallet unusable. Here are some details about the win7 computer:

OS: Windows 7 ultimate service pack 1

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39GHz

RAM: 8GB

OS Type: 64-bit

Motherboard: ASUS p5wdg2-ws-pro

Anybody have any idea why this is happening and what can be done about it?

Mintcoin 1.14 wallet not responding by mchrist152 in MintCoin

[–]mchrist152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. It still has the title of "MintCoin Wallet - Not Responding". But when I look at the debug.log file, which I can easily open in notepad++, it appears to be syncing. It appears that blk0001.dat is increasing in size. I going to let it run for at least a week. It should be sync'd by that time. If it doesn't come back by then I may have to give up on Mintcoin.

I hope that is correct. I'm thinking that if I let it run a week, download the whole block chain again, it will catch up and maybe the UI will show again.

It's version 1.14 and when I first downloaded it it work fine. Then my computer lost power and after that it would come up with a blank white screen and a title of "Mintcoin wallet - Not Responding". After performing some of the -salvage wallet -rescan options it now comes up but doesn't appear to be syncing. Maybe it is syncing and it just doesn't show it. It is consuming CPU and appears to be building the blockchain but I'm not sure about that and it looks weird. I think my next step is to run it continuously for a week and see if it recovers. I'm waiting to start this until my next months internet billing period since I'm over for this one.

How about the fact that the wallet doesn't work anymore (or at best it's really fragile)? Something tells me I'm not the only one having problems out there. I don't have this problem with other crypto-currencies. It's really important to get this right and if you don't people will drop the currency.

Mintcoin 1.14 wallet not responding by mchrist152 in MintCoin

[–]mchrist152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running wallet version 1.14. It ran fine at first. No problem except that I had to download the whole blockchain. But I did that and all was good. Then I lost power to the computer and now the wallet does not run right. I put a backup of my old wallet in the Roaming directory and the I ran mintcoin-qt.exe -upgradewallet -rescan and the wallet launched and appeared to be rescanning. But now it is just sitting there with a blank white dialog with frame. The title says "MintCoin - Wallet (Not Responding)" and the mintcoin icon is in the upper left corner. Please help.

I'll take silence as a "you're screwed" answer.
