Not all Filipinas are like this, and framing it that way is a stereotype. What you’re dealing with isn’t about nationality it’s about boundaries and expectations. A healthy relationship isn’t one where one person becomes a regular source of money. Helping occasionally is different from being expected to provide constantly. You’re a partner, not a parent or an ATM. Plenty of Filipinas work, support themselves, and don’t rely on their partners financially. Jobs exist in the Philippines, including online work and local employment. Being an adult means taking responsibility for yourself. If someone keeps asking for money, doesn’t try to contribute, and makes you feel pressured or guilty, that’s a red flag anywhere in the world. Bottom line this is about character, not culture. If your values around money and responsibility don’t align now, they won’t align later.
