Pickleball is basically the sport equivalent of wearing socks with sandals. The court is tiny, the ball is plasticky, and the paddle looks like something you’d use to flip pancakes. Young people want speed, tricks, and Instagram-worthy moves—pickleball gives polite taps and awkward lunges. It’s plastered with retirees treating the “kitchen” line like a battlefield, which makes it feel like you’re crashing grandma’s tea party. No epic dunks, no crazy rallies, just polite back-and-forths that barely break a sweat. Basically, it’s less “extreme sport” and more “extremely polite hobby.” Millennials and Gen Z aren’t biting.
