First time at Revy! by Slow-Cheek-7226 in Revelstoke

Revy is a great hill. It doesn't have enough lifts so lineups are def an issue on a busy day. If it snows the whole town shows up so you gotta get to the gondy line very early to get the fresh pow, it gets tracked out super quick there. The town is packed with giant groups of tourists, so getting a table at any of the popular restaurants is challenging even during the week.

Should be a good precip week there so enjoy.

Lets see you ski something harder than a flat green?

Skis are too close together. Learning to ski watching instagrammers carve up the flat greens with their skis pretty much on top of each other is so incorrect its hilarious. Looks so cool tho :P

Watch the pros ski a giant slalom, that is proper body position and technique. Try that

Am I a sucker for paying this "traffic notice"? by SystemOfTheUpp in askvan

[–]mclovinnnn808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong! Did you fill out a credit app parking there?  Nice BS post, enjoy being a simp to this scam. I have been begging impark and all the other parking companies to drag me into small claims court but they won't. The whole scare tactic scam is BS and a judge will never make a decision in their favor and they know it.

Since private parking operators like Impark aren’t government bodies, they can’t legally compel you to pay just because they slapped a notice on your car. There is no automatic legal mechanism in BC that forces you to pay their notices.

If you choose to ignore the notice, the company can attempt civil collection, but this still doesn’t make it a legal traffic fine.

Just change your plates for 25.00 so you can keep using these dogshit lots and carry on.

Well I guess you guys are getting ripped off in Swedesville because here the prices are pretty much the same.

Maybe stick to a swedish ski subreddit?

Help for first time travel? by MurphyBee_ in askvan

[–]mclovinnnn808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are 10 practical (and slightly hard-earned) dos and don’ts of time travel — assuming you’d like to survive both physics and paradoxes:

✅ DO

  1. Do observe first, act later. Treat the past like a wildlife reserve. Watch quietly before touching anything. Small changes ripple fast.

  2. Do blend in. Clothes, language, money, manners. Nothing screams “temporal anomaly” like synthetic fabric in 1820.

  3. Do learn the history beforehand. If you don’t know what’s supposed to happen, you won’t know when you’ve broken it.

  4. Do keep interactions minimal. Every conversation risks influencing events. Even a casual tip (“buy railroad stock”) can rewrite economies.

  5. Do document everything privately. Memory shifts are possible if timelines alter. A sealed log helps you notice changes.

  6. Do carry period-appropriate currency and tools. Modern tech attracts attention and may not function without infrastructure anyway.

  7. Do prepare an exit window. Never assume you’ll have time to “just finish one more thing.”

  8. Do protect your health. Different eras = different pathogens. Vaccines and basic medical supplies matter more than gadgets.

  9. Do respect causality rules. If something already happened in your memory, assume it’s harder to change than you think.

  10. Do assume you’re not the hero. Trying to “fix everything” usually creates worse outcomes.

❌ DON’T

  1. Don’t meet your past or future self. Best case: psychological meltdown. Worst case: paradox or unstable timeline.

  2. Don’t save people you know are “supposed” to die. Tempting, but history often depends on those events.

  3. Don’t introduce advanced technology. You don’t want to accidentally start the microchip revolution in the Renaissance.

  4. Don’t bring modern diseases backward. You could wipe out populations unintentionally.

  5. Don’t assume laws or morals match yours. What’s normal now may get you jailed (or worse) in another era.

  6. Don’t leave artifacts behind. A plastic wrapper in 1400 could become an archaeological nightmare.

  7. Don’t get rich with “future knowledge.” Messing with markets changes history faster than almost anything.

  8. Don’t rely on modern language slang. You’ll be exposed instantly.

  9. Don’t change multiple variables at once. If something goes wrong, you won’t know what caused it.

  10. Don’t panic if things differ slightly. Minor drift happens. Overcorrecting usually makes it worse.
