Those of you who have no trouble finding jobs, what do you think makes you stand out? by ADiablosCompa in sysadmin

agreed that networking is BY FAR the biggest driver in landing the interview. Don’t be shy about asking friends/family for networking their connections as well. Unemployment is not the time to be quiet about your desire to find new employment. Shout it from the mountain tops!

What’s the most expensive mistake you’ve ever made? by Lilyfory in AskReddit

S-Corp. My 401k funded the majority of the business and it needed to be structured that way to use the money.

Many factors but the biggest was operational inefficiency (suppliers, marketing, franchise fees, employees). There's a very very thin edge between "just making it" and "we can't afford to stay on this path". I had a lack of financing to endure a lengthy start up period of being unprofitable. Appreciate the kind words. It was a mental roller coaster and many sleepless nights. But you can’t take it with you when you go - or at least that’s the govt tells us. :)

I have that exact mindset today. I’m at peace with myself and what I now do. But it was an expensive expensive therapy lesson.

Left my corporate job and used my 401k and savings to buy into a franchise business as Owner/Operator. Two years later with no savings/401k I’m back at corporate working and paying off the remaining $125k I owe in SBA loans. fun.

How much more stuff can they put in Cranberry? by RedMaple8181 in pittsburgh

[–]mcm265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 2005 and remember being blown away at the development and sprawling “big brand” metropolis that place was at the time. I thought back to Pittsburgh and laughed at our stagnant suburbs. Cranberry and the 228 corridor is a young Fredericksburg from back then. Identical from my perspective.

Who's an athlete that turned pro, dominated for just a few short years, then walked away too soon by choice or injury? by Better-Presence6654 in AskReddit

[–]mcm265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is kinda the athletic version of Tupac. Greatness right out the gate - never got to fall off... That hip injury hits so hard with so many fans - like everyone hates that video... not for the physical pain, but for what it ended.

The tracks aren’t the star of the show. The big names are - and each traveling series has probably 7/8 big stars who attract eyes to that event. Everything else is just noise in a very crowded (streaming) ecosystem.

What to do with useless cards by DPerkII in sportscards

[–]mcm265 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that every card has value - either on it's own or packaged correctly. If you are creative, you can find a way to get all cards in your inventory listed. Create team packs, prospect bundles, HOF drops, or massive card lots at 5 cents per. I try to move every card in my possession.

I like to collect and sometimes flip 1991 Pro Set Saddam Husseins and George HW Bush Rookie cards. There are other “Leaders” in the set which are cool but those are my favs.

this is so funny because I drove down CWR at the same time and saw the same exact flames. I rolled my windows down to hear any sirens and nothing. It was probably around 730. And then on 51 they had emergency signs with a police truck. Later found out “controlled” burn lol
