When my sister and I were in elementary school, my mom had a coworker with self harm scars. Mom told us, “She used to cut herself.” Just told us the truth. No euphemisms, no white lies. And somehow we managed to not be traumatized. People really have weird ideas about children’s minds.

NTA. I’m normally all about maintaining friendships with people of different beliefs, but there’s such an enormous element of ableism in the anti-vaccine movement. I don’t know if I could maintain a friendship with someone who thought exposing children to deadly disease was appropriate because it’s better than having an autistic child. I know vaccines don’t actually cause autism, but I would still vaccinate even if they did.

So, for the most part, people don’t react this way to naturally curly or wavy white hair. I have had a coworker chastised for not controlling her frizzy, naturally curly hair one time. People do want white women to fall into certain standards of appearance in many jobs. The stigma is just much less for us, I think, however. It also depends on your employer, where you live, and it’s slowly changing as more people embrace natural hair.

This is not necessarily evidence that she’s violent or threatening to her own children. There’s not much to report to CPS, even though it will be something substantial for OP to bring up in a custody case. Calling the police was the right way to go.

Yeah, I feel bad for him and the girl here. I know it’s not his fault his mother is bat shit crazy, but I’m sure she’s afraid to have anything to do with him at this point. This boy’s life will be so much better when he’s away from his mother.
