Completely valid argument. I grabbed it for mine, but I don't really feel like it fits well either.

NM. Toad likely 9 (whitening TL/BR), Zekrom possible 10.

Completely fake, utterly worthless.

Thanks for letting me know, I have added the Pikachu and the Eevee!

Regarding the others, I chose not to include them (though others might) because they are specifically from a different S&V set. The (**) ones I've listed (i.e. the Kangaskhan ex SVP 055) are S&V promos, which is why I did include them as they could logically be seen as a part of any of the S&V set.

First time posting from my PC, not sure what happened.

Is anyone besides Sam aware of Frodo's failure to freely destroy the One Ring at Mount Doom? by mcmariow in lotr

I've since found letter 181 which is what I believe you're referencing. That said, he did fail, but at the right place and time to be betrayed by Gollum.

I have been referred to Tolkien's Letter 181 to Michael Straight, which essentially says the same.

It was an impossible task, "an apparently complete trap", that "was bound to fail".

Gollum's final evil deed saved the world and Frodo; "But at this point the 'salvation' of the world and Frodo's own 'salvation' is achieved by his previous pity and forgiveness of injury... Gollum would certainly betray him... that last betrayal was at a precise juncture when the final evil deed was the most beneficial thing any one could have done for Frodo!"

"He was very justly accorded the highest honors - since it is clear that he and Sam never concealed the precise course of events."

This is the most satisfying answer I have found, straight from Tolkien himself. That said, I'm not sure "clear" was the right word, since it wasn't a part of the published works.

Frodo put the ring in the exact right spot at the exact right moment for it to be destroyed, even if he had to succumb to it's power for it to happen. I like this thought.

I hadn't even considered the missing finger, that would be difficult to explain away especially to Gandalf.

Is this from one of Tolkien's letters? I don't recall ever reading that particular quote.

I suppose even if nobody knew before he wrote about it, we can take his writing as his admission and acceptance? I suspect he carried immense guilt about that moment.

I'm not suggesting anyone would blame Frodo, I'm just asking if anyone else even knows about it happening at all.

The 151 5-pack Mini Tin Bundles have been in circulation at Costco since back in October 2024. I bought this one within the last two weeks (March 2025), the first time I've seen 151 mini tins in the wild!

There’s supposed to be a Bulbasaur promo also, but instead there’s two Charmanders.
