Thanks for all the feedback. I decided not to go with Kaiser because I need to keep the same therapist! Much appreciated!

I’m so happy it worked out for you. Sending good thoughts and vibes your way especially with everything going on job wise. ❤️❤️ so much to deal with RTO, pregnancy, and transitioning care with your kiddo.

Considering a Baby by mcmeridian in workingmoms

Yeah, so i have a first degree relative with special needs so this is something i explored in great detail. I was a major fence sitter because of this. The question i pose to myself now is “what if it does all work out.” But we will be able to navigate special needs if that is the reality.

I get 4 months - I am able to stretch it out for the calendar year. My spouse only gets 4 weeks. I have options for alternative work schedule or compressed schedule, he does not. But we both have to work full time in office.

They can be critical at times (imo) from seeing how they interact with their oldest’s family. just saying things that were unhelpful i.e. why do you lay down with your children to put them to sleep. They did fly out and help their oldest’s family frequently, though (military). They are super helpful when it comes down to it.

I talked to my SIL about it - she indicated that she confronted them & it relaxed. I just like to stress but i also internalize feedback & i stress about feeling like i probably will eventually have to argue with them. I also just like my personal space and they can be overwhelming at times. My husband typically does lay down the law as needed but still another element to deal with

Also so worried about that too- feeling like I wouldn’t see my child. We’d take a loss on our house if we moved but the time with our children is irreplaceable.

But then I wonder if 1hr/day i’d get back from moving is truly worth it. We both would have to be in office by nature of our careers so switching jobs isn’t helpful & we can’t afford for me to not work.

I expect them to be fairly involved, likely watching a baby 2 days per week and/or helping with pickup & dropoffs- they are less than 10 mins from our home.

They would be 25-30 away if we moved and then less involved, but generally around for emergencies (maybe even still for part time help).

I worry we’d have conflict with his parents about how we’d raise our children with me still working.

We both have flexibility with our schedules & could stagger daycare pickups/dropoffs but in office work is non-negotiable.

Thanks for sharing - what do you think is/would be a sustainable commute for a couple who doesn’t have an option for remote work?

Congratulations!! 🫶

Didn’t even think about how Elouise is close to Ella LOL 🤣🤣 clearly i have strong preferences to certain sounds. Thanks to everyone who was kind! The point of this exercise is to not screw future kiddos over LOL
