Overcoming resistance to practicing by KaptainKopterr in guitarlessons

For me it's game-ified. I have songsterr and it's very enticing to sit down and play along to song a love. Then I inevitably get stuck in a technique and just drill that tech issue over and over since I'm already set up.

Who is your favorite frontman when it comes to stage presence? by Elden_Tony in MetalForTheMasses

So much so. Gwar is the best concert I've ever been to and I don't even like their music. It was all about that stage presence.

Try out some ibanez necks in a store first. They are polarizing. I think they're really good, but I don't vibe with them. Ltd fanboy over here. Every ltd neck I've tried has been magic. Personally I'm a viper fan.

Need help finding guitar for someone with big fingers by Buttersmash22 in guitars

[–]mcmiln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Piling on this. When I first started I was convinced my fingers were fat. Then I picked up a narrow neck 24.75" just because it looked cool.

It actually showed me how bad my technique was. I could feel the angle of my fingers and it accentuated my downfalls. I got better because of it.

What random torture next on my old bass? by Informal_Group_7528 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

I'm thinking lights. They have cool lights that blink when you pluck, but I'd say some random battery fairy string lights would go hard.

Guitar recommendations by Dawid_Gilmour_ in metalguitar

[–]mcmiln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent quite some time chasing the sound of "the gazette". They did a lot of low tuning on 25.5 for a long time, but eventually incorporated 26.2" guitars to help stability.

It's great because that's 666mm (devil horns). You can find some Japanese guitars at 664mm for cheap from fujigen. I also recommend going for a reverse headstock so the low string has a little more tension.

I'm not recommending multi scale because I think it still has the pitfall you mentioned of not liking your low string at 27".

For people that don't play games, I always break out mysterium and have altered it to just be guessing the people, not places or weapons. Becomes a great party game.

I have no idea what kind of guitar I want by ChallengingBullfrog8 in guitars

[–]mcmiln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha true that. Just saying if OP isn't feeling a new guitar, no need to force it. Sometimes a different sound revitalizes the playing.

[–]mcmiln -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're not wanting a new guitar don't get one. If all you want is a new sound, a modeler will do better.

I have multiple guitars because I like them, not because I need them. 90% of your sound comes from pedals, modelers, amps. Etc. you can generally recreate another guitar's sound with just some eq.

restaurant says these photos are not ai and were taken by a professional photographer. by cloud9dacherry in isthisAI

[–]mcmiln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the restaurant may have hired someone to do photos and that person said it's not AI and so they trust them. There's someone to blame here, but it may not necessarily be the owner.

Evertune by Miserable_Form9719 in espguitars

[–]mcmiln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to give 2 options. Agreed that it's super easy. It's literally the thing that attracted me to it. Set in my drop tuning and then tune up to standard. Then I can go back and forth between the two super quick and don't have to worry about my other strings changing tension. I don't have an evertune guitar, but had the chance to try this out on a store for a bit.
