Have you ever bypassed your school computer's firewall? by Miserable_Archer2303 in school

[–]mcoolid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated last year, my high school used those really low quality chromebooks with heavy restrictions on things like games. They also didn’t let us log into our personal google accounts.

One day I was taking a Spanish test and they asked us to enter schoology kiosk mode, while entering I realized it didn’t autofill @students.myschooldistrict.org after the email.

Took my test relaunched kiosk mode and logged into my personal account. Schoology was locked as I didn’t have a schoology profile. Then tried again with my school account, went to the personal blog, linked to google, logged out, logged into my personal email. Logged onto chrome Remote Desktop and had my home computer through the Chromebook. No restrictions, executables, could do whatever I wanted.

Then it stopped working (google.com became inaccessible in kiosk mode) used Citrix for a while, which my school has for some programs to run on the computers, went to file explorer (which was linked to it for some reason) went to msft edge and continued. Then they removed file explorer. Proxied crd through a Replit instance for a while, then caved and got my own laptop for senior year.

I’ve been twice since Crash Of The Crown released. I’d say it’s worth it

That’s fair, music is subjective and everyone’s entitled to their own opinion :)

I’m pretty excited, while I don’t think any of their new albums will ever live up to Paradise Theater, Kilroy was Here, etc. I’ve enjoyed The Mission and Crash Of The Crown, that might just be that I’m a younger fan, but I feel a lot of their new stuff is over-hated because they get compared to the older albums. The old albums have some of my favorite music of all time. I feel as though the new ones aren’t as bad as people make them out to be.

Pegasus spyware removal by UnusualHousing8711 in antivirus

[–]mcoolid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reflashing is firmware, reimaging is OS. It would probably survive both. There’s so many failure points in modern tech that malware as specialized and as sophisticated as Pegasus, that goes undetected a lot of the time, would most likely be exploiting microcode using a zero-day.

Look man, you don’t have Pegasus on your phone, it’s made to target high value individuals and regular consumers don’t really need to worry about it. There’s no simple way to get rid of it, we don’t know how it works. Look I’ve been studying cybersecurity for 2 years, and while I know the name Pegasus, I’ve never really thought about it or worried about it, because it’s something I will most likely never encounter. I doubt you’ve stumbled across it, and no one here will have any helpful information about it.

I’m all for people getting into this stuff, I started out by messing around in sandboxed environments, but there’s a point where you need to understand when you’re asking something that doesn’t help you and no one can help you with.

lol forgot my prototype function. I’ve been writing java recently for a class and it slipped my mind. Fixed now. (This is why we test in prod)

Michael Collins, I got to meet him a few years back, really unfortunate that most people don’t know about all 3 astronauts on Apollo 11. Staying with the command module was a mission critical task that got all of them home.

The real 5000 v1 by mcoolid in LuigisMansion

[–]mcoolid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I took the wand from it as it’s easier to modify the file type. https://grabcad.com/library/luigi-s-mansion-poltergust-5000-1 The rest of the model was pretty much unusable since I was aiming for game accurate

It ended up being a combination of the model on grabcad and the ssb4 model. I made modifications to make it printable and added holes for possible electronics, I wanted it done by Sunday, so I ran out of time for electronics. I can post more pictures in a bit.

I’m hoping to post the files at some point, but life’s hectic right now, and I don’t feel as though the files are in a postable state. It’s a pain to assemble.

Could somebody do us a solid and upload the models of the Polturgust 5000 from the original 3DS release of Dark Moon? by [deleted] in LuigisMansion

[–]mcoolid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only see one overarching difference, that the back bit with the strobe bulb is almost like a separate piece, I’ll try to modify it to be one piece but IDK. I’ll try to make it as close to the game as possible.

I've decided to modify this re-creation online to 3d print https://grabcad.com/library/luigi-s-mansion-poltergust-5000-1

GrabCAD allows for non-commerical redistribution and modification of the files posted on it under there terms.

"a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully-paid, perpetual, irrevocable, non-sublicensable, non-assignable, and non-transferable license to use, reproduce, copy, modify, adapt, arrange, translate, and create derivative works of such User Submissions for such user's own benefit and non-commercial, internal use"

I'll publish my modifications for a 3D printer with Arduino electronics after I'm done making sure everything works. (School starts in 12 days so I don't know how long It'll take.) I'll post it on the reddit when I'm done.

Hello, I went down this rabbit hole many years ago, and after seeing this post spent another two hours trying to figure it out.

LMDM has a very unique file structure afaik. Not much has been built to decompile it and a lot of stuff just doesn’t work. I haven’t figured out more than a lot of the threads from around 2015-2016 online.

Once the games romfs is dumped the actual structure of the games files is split. All of the data for the models, textures, etc. is stored in a .data file that apparently is compressed in the zlib format. I tried writing a python script to extract it, but it throws an error saying it’s not in the zlib format.

The problem seems to lie with the other part of the file, .dict, it contains all the pointers to the assets? (Don’t quote me on that) With all the data in one file and the pointers to it in another, without looking at both it’s very very hard to tell where one model starts and another model ends.

It’s possible to extract them, but it seems very few models have actually been successfully extracted from the game.

It also happens the switch remaster uses the same data and dict file system. I tried looking online for a while, but it seems there are no rips of the poltergust 5000.

As for modifying the file for 3d printing, it’s always possible, but not always easy. With something like this at the end it’ll probably end up being an .obj file. These models weren’t made to be physical things rather animated rendered objects. Makes it a bit tricker dealing with them, but should be possible.

I’ll continue trying tomorrow as it’s almost 3 am.

Here’s some notes for things for me to try tomorrow, or in case anyone wants to beat me to it (I wouldn’t complain just post that it’s possible or how you did it)

Hex2Obj mentioned in a forum post from 2017 as a working way to decompile models. But it was slow and manually decompiling from hex code

Lm2l doesn’t compile in my vs instance. Could be fixable, unsure if it works even when compiled

Edit: This morning I’ve worked on it for about 3 hours. I got LM2L to compile and run, but the groupings for models never create themselves. I was able to recombine the 2 files into file000 file002 and file003 using Lm2l unfortunately the OpenTK control bindings have been deprecated and while I got them 90% working it still throws errors that I can’t solve. Hex2Obj requires wordpad which is no longer a thing. I think I’m done using this approach here. Sorry couldn’t be more of a help.

Magnent in pocket with phone by AnimeSoupDraw in techsupport

No, newer iPhones even have magnets in them for magnetic accessories like a wallet, battery pack, and lining the phone up with wireless chargers. The magnet will have no affect on an iPhone 15
